Played it on pc and the key to beating him is constantly moving and to have a nice range of elemental guns, one for each type of enemy that spawns with crawmerax. When i get home ill post the gun line-up i used and where to get them, although most guns in game are aquired by luck as you probably know.

yeah weaht I would do to get better loot is get to crimson's lance armory until I get the desired gear
Crimson lance armory yes and anything past tartarus station although you rely on random enemy drops at that point.

Most have fallen short of expectations recently so i see a lack of them in my collection, last one i bought was final fantasy 13 which now sits collecting dust because it was ok. I find myself playing older JRPG's instead.
disk check and fast disk reading helps with PS1 games sometimes, try turning them on. But the fact that you used a lens cleaner and a disc cleaner could be your main problem right there.
