Gears Of War VS JRR Tolkien

Well, I've been playing Hunted: Demon's Forge the past couple days (I have to give the game credit...I never thought It'd last this long! :o). I'm not done with it quite yet (I'm guessing a couple hours or so) but it's suprisingly good. Nothing spectacular, but I imagined the game to be a lot worse than this. As linear and straightfoward the game is, it has a suprisingly deep number of unlockables (increasing your heath/mana potion stock, your arrow capacity, and even being allowed to carry a second main weapon...which is a godsend since I chose the archer, and there are times I need long range as well as short range bows, and got sick of having to keep hunting a certain one down when the pace changes).

Like the title says, it plays a lot like Gears of War...you take cover (although I found it pretty useless, once I figured out even the archer has a pretty good accuracy with spray and pray :?) although you can't blindfire (with bow and arrows...that woul've been intersting .) and I must say the story did a pretty good job at keeping me glued to the game (typical fantasy stuff, but there's a lot of plot twists going on every hour or so...not to mention the nice change of scenery every chapter...also, you use a Death Stone to get a little insight about a dead person's life prior to dying, which at times has its own chilling tale of the past). I pretty much chose the archer (yes...a hot female elf :|) because hack and slashing got boring after a while. At least with the archer, I have some sort of variety: Gears of War with arrows, and switch to a sword when things get heavy (true the fighter has a crossbow...but seriously...crossbow :|). Anyway, from what I've played so far, I'm predicting 7.5-8.0 because while it's fun, I've had much better (you know, like Gears of War? ;)). Anyway, that's it...man, feels like it's been a while since I've actually blogged about gaming on this site .
