Gamespots new rating sytem

Today, Gamespot will replace the old system where games were rated by categories with a system that just rates games by .5 increments. I think this new system is just a respose to fanboys arguing scores in the forums. With games getting 8.8 or 8.9, Gamespot could avoid the backlash by posting a score of 9.0. Because of this, we can't judge a game within the same score range anymore which is one reason why I'm against it.

On the other hand, the old system is kinda flawed because the site chooses what to give a game even though it really doesn't deserve it which might be a good thing to have the new system. I believe that Gamespot no longer wants to distinguish games by scoring a game a higher than another. For example, Burnout legends got a 9.1 while Burnout Revenge got a 9.0. The reason why gamespot gave Burnout legends a higher score was because of better sound, but what we really know is that Gamespot deliberately gave the game a higher score to show a difference which goes back to the old system being flawed. Other games that could be looked at could be God of War 2(9.2) and God of War 1(9.1), or even Metal Gear Solid 3(8.7) and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory(8.6). Then again, when did gamesites care about what people thought about their reviews?
