DinkaMailer Blog

It's 2 AM, I'm awake and I have lessons early tomorrow...

Well... it's been awhile again.
I'm pretty sure nobody's reading my blog anymore, but it's
still fun to write here a little now and then...
University started last week and we're already deep in this
gooy mess called 4th semester... Funny thing to say on my
2nd week, but I'm horribly tired

Hmm, something else:
I've become an Asian (but mostly Korean) drama addict
(obviously). I'm pretty sure I'll write reviews for some of the
movies I love. I hope they'd get you at least a little interested
and you'll try some of those movies too...

Anywayz... It's already 2:15 and really need to sleep, so bye
for now... I'll hopefully be back with more info soon...

The strangest thing EVER!

Hi Everyone!
I'm back from a holiday week in Greece... It was really great, but that's not really what I want to talk about right now. What I want to mention is something absolutely unlikely that happened to me in Greece:
My brother and I were sleeping in the same room. The room was pretty warm, but not bad enough to use A/C, we rather kept the balcony door open for the night. One evening I woke up to some noise behind my back and when I listened a little more I felt the sheets move... I'm not the panicing type, but I felt my adrenalin lever rise... I turned to see what was behind my back and came face to face with a cat! She was lying on the bed with a very contented look on har face, and when I patted her head in disbelief she started purring... I didn't have the heart to chase her out.. We stayed like that for a few hours and then she just disappeared... My brother didn't even turn in his sleep through the whole thing...
I had no idea where she came from, but when I walked out to the balcony the next morning I realized there was a small garage roof not much below the balcony floor... I'm sure she climbed up to the roof and jumped up on the balcony... :)

It was the strangest thing that ever happened to me...

Respect nurses...

Hiya Everyone!
This is my 2nd week in the hospital and so many things have happened... We've learnt lots of useful things and tried to help patients every way we could...
We are on the haematological ward where most patients are very sick, having leukemia, sickle-cell disease or other diseases of unknown origin.
Nurses say we've been assigned to the the hospital ward where the sickest people in the whole hospital stay. I somehow had a feeling that this was the case, because we had a lot more to do than the others on different hospital wards...

The worst has already happened: Two of the patients we (the 1st year medics) were helping died of their serious illnesses... It's such a horrible thing, especially after we've really started to care for them... :( Thankfully we weren't there when it happened, I don't know how I would've handled that... The nurse who is in charge of us said the way the old lady died was quite horrible, so it's better that we didn't have to watch. :(

Something else: I accidentally stung myself with a needle today. Thankfully it was still sterile, but it was a huge warning for me to be more careful.
I don't know how nurses can do all these tasks with so much precision an speed. One really needs to be part of the hospital-system to realize and appreciate what an awfully hard and both physically and emotionally exhausting job it is to be a nurse. They do EVERYTHING on their own, doctors only come by now and then, for only a few minutes and then disappear...
Nurses deserve a big THANK YOU for all the hard work they do...

Long time, no see...

Hi everyone, who is still listening... :)
I know I disappeared for really long, but life has become a continuous rush for me the moment I joined medical university... It should be summer vacation for us now, but instead we're on nursing courses for a month and then the exam period continues... We start work at 7am and the work is really emotionally exhausting... IMHO this is the most important of all jobs, but it's awfully hard to see so many seriously sick people... I'm afraid we'll have to face the worst sooner or later... I'm not prepared for that... :(

Other than this, I'm fine... I love what I'm doing & looks like I got a place in the school house for next year too... If only I could get rid of that horrible exhaustion...

Finally!

I can't believe it! Exam period is finally over for me and I did good... It's a great feeling, but I impossibly tired... Now that I'm done with my first semester I can concentrate on things I should have done earlier... For example send the origami star-thing I promised Kachina impossibly long ago... (Shame on me!) I'll meet a very good friend & "sister" I haven't seen in almost a year and now I can finally spend some quality time with my family, catch up on some reading (etc.), but first I'll jump into bed and lock all the alarm clocks in the wardrobe ;)

Bye-bye profile-pictures... \o_

(I'm quite curious which law I'm violating by linking in my own pictures from my site... LOL The ones I took from other locations are thoroughly disclaimed, BTW... Oh well...) If you're still interested in the pictures I liked in when photo-linking was still a possibility try quoting my post and copy-paste the links in your browser... EDIT: Bah... I forgot that you can't moderate my posts... When I have some more time I'll list the links here so photos would still be a click-away... EDIT #2:As I got to know it's not a disclaimer-problem, but a security-leak... Ohwell... *SIGH*

Last week before all hell breaks loose :)

Well, it's been awhile... It's the last week before the "exam period" and I'm taking my final tests... I'm a bit too tired for anything right now, but wanted to let you know I'm still alive and doing well (except for exhaustion, of course)... This semester was pretty interesting... it seemed more like I was studying languages than medical science... I picked up Japanese (don't give me the look ;)), Latin and English and most of my classmates still tease me with my "language-mania"... Other than these, I don't really have many interesting subjects... Those will "come" next semester, (if I pass my exams, that is)... I'm really looking forward to anatomy, genetics and microbiology... Anywayz... I'm off... I should re-read the chemistry book for tomorrow... Take care, ~DinkaMailer

I'm sooooo tired *THUD*

I feel just like the title says... University is pretty hard, but I really enjoy it, not to mention I love the people there... It's so much better than the university I left!!! The only problem is that it's in a city quite far from where I live, so I had to move... oh well and we have to study a LOT... To tell the truth I'm sometimes wondering why I chose this profession... We need to study for 6 years, then more years practice and THEN we can start to really work... Eeeek ;)
