Wait for the PS4. All of the PS3 games will be available for download on PSN, so you'll have the best of both worlds.

Based on my personal experience, sports games have the most "Wow Factor" when it comes to new hardware. So for me, it'll be 2K14 followed by Madden, then I'll get to the other stuff.
Dr. Dre ft. Snoop Doggy Dogg - Nothin but a G Thang - San Andreas
Kanye West - Flashing Lights - GTAIV
Gametrailers gives it a 7.6. Ouch.

What type of BS is this? I went to Best Buy this morning, to pick up Madden 12, and came home ready for some football. I go to start a franchise with the young Oakland Raiders led by Terrell Pryor, and low and behold he is nowhere on the roster. So I said ok, I'll play a quick exhibition with the Eagles, and Kevin Kolb is leading them on the field. After some googling I find out that you have to be a Gold member for roster updates. I just cancelled my Gold account, and I don't plan on getting another one anytime soon. Am I supposed to pay for a roster update in addition to the game when PS3 owners have no such headaches?
To me, GTA IV works as a better *art* piece (who says video games can't be art?) in the fact that Liberty City is ridiculously impressive. GTA attained that score I felt because it had really good atmosphere and if I just want to walk around and explore a giant open world, Liberty City is the place to go.
However, SR2 is most definitely a better sandbox game. By that I mean it actually lets me do what I want to do, when I want to do it. Like Yahtzee said, if you have a new sandbox to play in, you don't want to sit through a long tutorial about "proper spade ettiquette", you want to go in and blow **** up. I can spend hours playing with GTA IV physics and laughing at those blooper videos, but the fact is, that stuff rarely comes up in a regular play session (indeed they use mods and other great stuff in those videos) whereas random silliness and awesome occurs every time I jump into co-op with my friend in SR2.
SR2 story is indeed garbage though. I really like the voice talent (Daniel Dae Kim and Eliza Dushku!) but really SR2 allows me and my buddy to make our own fun in the city.
Free Mode?I remember similar threads when Saint's Row 2 was coming out and GTA IV hadn't been announced. We all see how that worked out. If we don't understand history, we are doomed to repeat it. To compare Volition to Rockstar Games in anyway other than saying they're both game companies, is insane. Stop the madness people. Rockstar has no equal when it comes to open world games.
It's Rockstar Games. Why is everyone suprised by the level of awesomeness? Everytime they put something out it's GOTY worthy.
Metal Gear Solid: Rising will be out this year.
