but they told me to back up all my stuff on my playstation 3 so I wouldnt lose anything because they clear it all.Diddies

That was the main reason I was asking, so thanks for that! Wouldn't want to lose my vast explorative abilities gained in Fallout 3!

Thanks, folks.

I was hoping there would be a non-"send to Sony" solution, but I fear I'll have to send this one in.

As a rule, do they tend to repair the existing rather than replace? Cheers again!

Hi folks,

(NB: I orginally posted this in the Gamespot AU forum, but it was suggested I'd get a better response here)

I've had my PS3 for about a year now, and it has been running fine all of this time. In fact, it still boots up fine and I get a menu screen, but any disc I put in - either a game disc or a Blu-ray - refuses to load. The little icon will spin in the top right-hand corner, but no progress from there. It was working fine up until last night.

I have tried rebooting, leaving it switched off for minutes/hours and even tried updating to the latest firmware, but no joy so far.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

They've clearly split to dedicate themselves to Wii's Zapper.

I am definitely in the camp of them being here to stay.

Firstly, the random ones are not always easy to get. They are limited emblems, and once the window has passed they will never be seen again. I was pleasantly surprised when the Turkey appeared in my profile, as I was a relatively new member at the time. It soon became obvious that I just happened to be 'on at the right time, and that small sense of random game achievement was a good one. It's not a big deal, but being online at a certain time and place is just as much worthy of an emblem as tuning in to see a broadcast. Indeed, many tune it to see broadcasts purely for the purpose of getting an emblem, and the randomness of things like 'Turkey' and 'Pie' make it more like uncovering an Easter Egg and all the more fun for it. You didn't know it was coming but you are sure glad it is there.

So why not have them stay? It isn't like everyone got the turkey and pie/cake. Those very same people who got them may miss out on the next random one, and vice versa. It makes emblem collecting more fun when you don't know it is coming.

Personally, I don't see the rational for not having them. It is there, it isn't taking up too much space and it is a capsule of a certain time and place in this "community". Viva la random, methinks!

My god, I don't think we've seen something this divisive since the cloning debate.

I have to go with pie. Cake rocks my world is so many ways, but pie is just inherently funny as a word, and I've eaten pie more recently.

That's how I'm voting next election: whichever candidate most resembles the thing I've most recently eaten.

I humbly submit my review for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Wii) for your collective pleasure.

Collective Pleasure? That'd be an awesome band name, yeah?

Bit of an electro-ponce thing, I reckon.

I watched the last half of the Microsoft one, but have not received an emblem. Not a big deal, but I thought it worth mentioning.

Thanks!
