Dear Gamespot members! I'm currently working on a school project about different sound design techniques that can be used for video games. It would be awesome if you guys could help me out by participating in a really short listening experiment. You are gamers, and therefore the target audience! It will take about 2 minutes. Instructions: Please rate all four separate sound samples based on how realistic they sound to you (sound files are separated by short silences, and specified in video). The scale is from 1 to 10. 1 represents extremely unrealistic/unconvincing. 10 represents extremely realistic/convincing. Please note file name and score. Example answer: File 1 (wind sound): 8 File 2 (wind sound): 3 File 3 (fire sound): 5 File 4 (fire sound): 9 You can just post your comments/ratings as a reply to this thread Link to audio samples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBshUj0svYA Thank you very much in advance! Cheers!

I'd say wind 1 gets a 7, it sounds good but maybe a bit overdone. I don't know the environment for that file, but I have never heard wind that severe before. wind 2 gets a 6. Fire 1 gets a 5, fire 2 gets an 8. It would be helpful to see some kind of visual element during the audio because it is difficult to imagine what size fire would make what sounds since I don't normally listen to fires

Thanks you very much for your input! And yes, visuals would certainly help, but the point in this case is that you have to try and judge it only by listening :).

I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong sub forum, I thought this one would be the most appropriate. You are gamers, and therefore the target audience! Thank you very much in advance! Cheers!
