I was skeptical about the new format before E3. I thought it was unfair to snub the gaming public, the ones the console and game makers owe their livelihood to. But after E3 I had changed my mind. The coverage of E3, on Gamespot and G4 tv in particular, was outstanding this year, in part due to the fact that the media had better access to the games. I was also glad to see the focus fully on GAMES and none of the "fluff" that plagued previous E3s, like "booth babes". So maybe it is not only fair to the gaming public, but good for the gaming public. Because lets face it, most of us couldn't attend the event even if it was open to us, but we can get a real backstage pass from the media which has better access than ever, and they can show us what really matters: THE GAMES.
Is it just my imagination, or does playing kids games like TMNT and Cars defeat the whole purpose. It's more embarrassing to have kids games on your "played games" list if you are an adult than having a lower gamerscore. Adults who have points in games like that do not garner my respect at all. And as for paying $60 for games just to boost my score? No thanks. If I'm buying it it's because I want to play the game.
