Finally something that should have been done a LONG time ago

Yesterday, I actually finally managed to get around to beating a game. The game in question was The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. Now I know that is probably going to draw a rousing chorus of gasps and laughter, but at least hear me out on this one. To be perfectly honest, I never really got into The Legend of Zelda series until The Wind Waker. That was the first Zelda game I owned and played through and beat (and I loved every moment of the game). prior to that I had had some exposure to the series with a Link To The Past years earlier ( a game that a friend of mine considers to be the best Zelda game in the series).

I guess my reasons for not trying the series earlier was the fact that I didn't think I would have liked the open world exploration themed elements that are core to the Zelda series (I grew up on Super Mario Bros so for me platforming was always the best way to go.

After playing The Wind Waker, I knew I had to get my hands on Ocarina Of Time, so I spent my spare days away from University (where I was at the time) hunting through the bargain game shops. Then one day I found it a dusty old copy of Ocarina of Time (would have been sometime in January 2006). Unfortunately I started playing through it but medical school started u p and I had to cut my playing. Then medical school was so draining that even during my off time in vacation I would be too drained to want to dust off some of the old games and play through.

That all changed this term when I made the effort to sit down for a week and a half to play through the game.

Damn I love that gam, and now I understand why the G4TV show Filter ranked Ganondorf as one of the toughest boss battles in games. I now also understand what all the fuss was about for Ocarina Of Time. That game really was a masterpiece. My only minor regret is that since I played it so many years after its release, it looks dated. That really is just a minor thing because as any true gamer knows, "slick beautiful graphics alone do not a quality game make" (sorry for quoting Yoda here)

Well now time to crack open Twilight Princess and get through that, but that will have to wait until I get back from this final term of school ( I want to be able to sit back and enjoy the COMPLETE experience of the game rather than just play a bit, leave it hanging over the school term and finally 16 weeks later return to finish it)

Anyway this post is just a simple case of Random Ramblings. More blog to you guys another day
