Design Choices

Recently I have been playing Dead Space a lot and along with the obvious scares that are enjoying I have also noticed the way that information is displayed to the player. The health meter is located of the back of the main character instead of a traditional health meter at the bottom of a screen. Also the menu is done in real time and out in front of the main character and although i doesn't seem that much occasionally I will wait that little extra time to make sure nothing else will try and attack you. Another thing is I like to use it quickly just in case there is something I haven't seen and now there is a menu in the way. This may sound like a nuisance but it help builds the tension in the game because even though you will normally be safe to access the menu it really makes you fell like anything can happen. The point I am getting to is game design choices that have hurt or made a game more enjoyable such as this one. I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed similar design choices.

Game Trade Ins

I have grown bored today so I thought I start a blog and gamespot seemed like the place to do it.

So as the title suggests it's about game trade ins something of which I did just recently. I went through my games and gathered the ones I no longer played or wished to play and trade them in. In all there were 7 so I went down to my local GAME and decided to pick up Fallout 3, Fable 2 and Dead Space in exchange which seemed fair to me.

So I have been giving each of them a little bit of love and seeing which one impresses me. I played Fable first and it has been a lot of fun so far. Haven't gotten to far into it but there seems to be a wide variety of things to do and can see myself playing it for a long time.

Fallout was next and the only thing I can say is wow. I have just left the vault and just looking around and it's amazing. The graphics are great and I can also see myself playing it for ages.

Dead Space was basically just a throw in because I needed to use the remaining store credit. To my surprise this has been the most intriguing so far and actually might play it more then the other 2. So far it has made me jump, giving a unique combat perspective and the ability to upgrade my arsenal.

So all in all I am happy with what I got in return with Dead Space so far being my favourite. Also got some good news today I got accepted into TAFE to do my CERT 3 in hospitality so it has been a good few days for me.
