I have no idea how we managed to only have a few breaks of power but nothing prolonged. I drove around yesterday and trees, wires and branches all over not to mention about 2 blocks in either direction have no power. During my drive (I tried going about a 5 miles radius hitting a few different towns in the process) I could not find any working traffic lights so I assume anybody in those areas have no power either. I do feel for them as I would be a miserable ***** to be around by not being able to get any sleep until the power went back on whenever that would be. With that said I am gonna look into a battery backup for my CPAP. I can't sleep at all without it now and that would be an investment well worth it to me. It was really odd as one area could be hit really bad them only like a football field away they were fine nothing was on the ground except leaves. We have roughly 1 million people here on LI and 450k plus lost power. Oh before I forget here's a pic of the trees in the back yard that fell the "right" way for my family and I...lol The scary thing is none of us heard them fall and you would think the one that cracked would have made a loud noise no? Soil was so moist from all the rain prior to Irene I seen more just uprooted than broken.
