(My First One) Grade 9 Video Game Essay Draft

this is a essay i did in grade nine about how video games and violents this is one off my drafts the the final work i'll post the final when i fond it

In this essay it will be proving that video games do not make people violent like lots of people say they are. I will be giving you true facts about video games and studies that have been done to determine if these accusations are true.

Playing video games; does it really make people violent? Most people would say yes, that watching any type of violent act would make a person do the same, but there has been a study in crime rates in the U.S. They discovered that after the release of Doom, (one of the most violent games in Video gaming history), the crime rate of Juvenile Homicide went down 77 Percent over the course of 10 years. That's 1993 to 2003 that violence declined. But if video games really made people violent wouldn't the percent go up for the Juvenile Homicide go up and not down. But even know this was known they still blamed the game Doom for the Columbine Shooting were to gunmen killed thirteen students then themselves. But how would Doom make Two students want to kill thirteen students the game is about demons on mars and a lone marine trying to save the remaining humans on mars you kill demons and zombies to escape so if they thought every one in the school were zombies or demons they had something more wrong with them then being violent, or they were mad at the school and did it because they wanted to. Ether they were mentally unstable or they were violent to begin with. But there's more the reasoning then that thousands of people played Doom all over the world so why was it just these two out of all the people to ever play Doom that killed a lot of people in fact students have a 7 in 10 million chance of being killed and even know theses two killed thirteen people at columbine the crime rate for homicide went down but if Doom made them kill the thirteen people shouldn't have gone up.

One of the arguments that are used for saying video games make people violent is that if a younger kid is playing a violent video game they won't be able to tell right from wrong and its ok to stab or shoot people and kill them but if that's true how are the kids younger kids getting the games with that content any type of realistic Violets' puts the games rating up to "T" (T for Teen but be 13 or higher) so you have to be age 13 or higher to rent or buy it at a store same goes for Blood and Gore alone puts it to "M" (M for Mature must be 18 or older) and there's no chance of a game having Gore or Blood and getting a "E" rating (E For Everyone any age) because it needs to go threw the E.S.R.B. (Entertainment Software Rating Board) and most game makers try to get there rating under "M" if they can so they can get more money because the Teen market is there biggest but it doesn't make a lot of sense if video games do make people violent why not other things ratings that they use in picking its rating are

Alcohol Reference

Blood

Gore

Drug Reference

Gambling

Sexual Violets'

Tobacco Reference

Use of Drugs

Use of Alcohol

Use of Tobacco

So if all these things or in games why aren't loads of people running around doing drugs drink alcohol raping and sexual assaulting and killing people because a lot of people play video games all over the world and if video games make people thing these things are ok the crime and other things would be sky rocketing.

There has been studies that have tested the supposed link between Violent behaviour and Video games but they are still not proving that it dose or doesn't and they have been studies on it for over 10 years so why has no one proved anything. In on study I found in one of my articles they got a bunch of college students and split them into to groups half played Myst a non violent game and the others played Wolfenstein 3D and they were told that if they beat another person they could blast them with a bunch of sound and each article stated the results differently but the real results were that yes more of the people playing wolfenstein blasted there opponent but the females in both games blasted the loudest but still they have no link between violents and Video games.

If it is true that violent video games make people violent why not other things in media like sports such as football, hockey, and other such games. Why is it that only video games can cause it. The truth is if you start by blaming video games first instead of getting the hole story and the backround you will never find out what really happened and why it happened.
