Disgaea, Tekken and Final Fantasy Tactics are great games, if you like RPGs you should try to get your hands on Tales of Eternia too, Valkyrie Profile isn't bad either.
Final Fantasy Tactics has a great story, one of the best stories of a game for psp at the moment, Valkyrie Profile has an interesting story progression if you'd be interesed, nothing macabre that i can think of though... I'd say if you're looking for a good, 'dark' story, FFT would be the way to go
Stika are you just saying that games are good based on what reviews they get, 'cause most of the time the reviewers haven't played the games for long enough to enjoy them, Monster Hunter in my opinion is the best game for PSP at the moment, but it took me a few days to get used it.
