What I've been playing, following by racism and communism banter

Ok, havent posted anything for a month, but seeing as I only have 7 followers (Still more than I predicted!), I felt it wasnt that much of an issue.

Anyway, I thought I would just go over what Ive been playing in the last month for easy reading, and then delve into some random thoughts that have bugged me about racism and communism.

It was my birthday in July, so a lot of the games I played were birthday presents (Thank you very much, Steam wishlist. You have made present-choosing for my family easy).

I still haven't worked out how to get these links to work, but you can read the rest of this post on my blog.

Quest for Glory, modern gaming banter, and English!

I really miss the old DOS days. Mainly because I was younger and therefore two things didn?t happen.

1) I didn?t work.

2) Because of point above, I couldn?t buy all the games I wanted.

These two things meant I had less games to play, but more time to play them, which resulted in spending a lot more time really getting to know the games I had.

A common thing to say about modern games is that they hand-held you the whole way through. Which is taken as a bad thing (And it is, essentially), but it is possibly also a necessary evil as gamers have grown up, and therefore we have to work, tend to our relationships, etc etc. Which results in far less time to simply be chucked into the deep end and learn how to swim on our own.

Regardless of whether hand-holding is necessary or not, there is a lot more magic in games which has been lost through the ages, and after replaying the first Quest for Glory (Or Hero?s Quest, if you want to be nerdy) recently, I witnessed quite a few points about gaming that I miss.

Mass Effect 3, obviously

Ok, I?m not going to go into all the detail and history about the Mass Effect 3 endings, but I did completely ignore everyone in my life yesterday after the Extended Cut DLC came out so I could sit and see the new endings.

Sorry, Sweden and Denmark

Every single person from Sweden that I?ve met has been absolutely lovely and nice.

I?ve been to Denmark, and every Danish person that my girlfriend and I met there (ie. Everyone) was amazingly polite and couldn?t do enough to make our trip as wonderful as it could be.

Yet despite having knowledge of the wonderful people from both nations above, it was only last night that I became incredibly sad at the realisation that both countries have been kicked out of the UEFA Euros 2012.
And why only last night?

Because I played Rune Classic on Steam last night, and came to the conclusion that Scandinavians are simply the coolest people on the planet.

A pile of ducking pit

I played a game of Tennis this morning. Not Top Spin 4 (Which I highly recommend), it was a game of real Tennis. And by real Tennis, I don?t mean Real Tennis either (Which was the version of Tennis played by King Henry VIII). I mean good, honest, outside Tennis. Which I actually quite enjoy, and is the only sport I feel semi-decent at.

Except today I wasn?t decent. My serves were off and I kept giving away points with unforced errors. Now, I could blame this on my inability to get any first serves in, or positioning myself a bit too forward, or even on not having breakfast yet. But no, there was only one reason I was crap today.

CitiesXL 2012.

The Genius of Thief

I recently finished Thief Gold, about 14 years late.

For those who don?t know, Thief Gold is basically the first Thief game (Thief: The Dark Project), but with three extra missions and refinements to existing missions.

Hello (And more)

Okay. Been probably 7 years since I last blogged. And that was about my life, which was infinitely more boring than the topic of this blog. Actually, last time I blogged was because a crazy ex forced me to blog. Sorry, crazy isn?t polite. She was insane and deadly. And forced me to read her own blog (which was worse). I would start talking to her directly, and then get in trouble because I hadn?t read her blog and didn?t know she was upset about a pet getting sick or something.

Whoops, wasn?t meant to be about my life, so here?s the end of the story: I left her. She got pregnant. Not mine. I win.

And now I get more time to play games (Segue bonus) and rather like them. I play on multiple formats, with the only major one I?m missing out on is the Xbox 360. But between a PC (Microsoft) and PS3 (Console), then I get enough of the ?360? world (Microsoft Console).
