Game of The year Pt. 1

We're half-way through 2007 and already many people are declaring their picks for GotY. Picks ranging from sensible to down-right outrageous ( Yes I'm talking to you Shadowrun fanboys). I myself have not decided on a pick since I haven't played a game that I believe is worthy of the title, don't get me wrong God of War 2 was a helluva game, but the Game of the Year just has to be Next-Gen, we've already passed the threshold. Let me first start off with GTA IV; today R* released a brand new trailer for their much anticipated game, let me start by saying... that I hated it! Don't get me wrong it was good, but too get this much and have to wait until October!!! That is the definition of torture, R* you should have spared me the agony, I WANT GTA IV NOW!!!!! J/K But it was really good, they really amped up everyone with this trailer, and I just know that R* will not disappoint with the plot which seems to be amazing (hollywood caliber). If done right GTA Iv could possibly win GoTY with its induction to the next generation. Next is the most hyped game in the history of mankind, Halo 3. Now don't get me wrong if what I'm about to write seems like a flame-war on the halo series, but there really is no need for me to over what Bungie does right with this series. I may be one of the only people in this galaxy who will not pre-order this game (well actually I might but I'm not all that enthusiastic about it). The Halo games are great games and must haves, but after the bombardment of FPS's I received from Microsoft I really am craving for something totally different than just constant shooting. And don't get me started on the multitude of problems the online has. Well its more towards the community; it seems half the KKK play on Xbox Live these days. Halo 3 will be great and all but don't see it as winning Game of The Year. those are probably the two biggest contenders as of right now, I can't think of too many titles that can stand up to either one of these games, possibly Mass Effect with its revolutionary style of dialog, but talking alone can't make a game great. And again you have to be real, your favorite game of 2007 may not necessarily be what the masses deem as best game of 2007. I'd like to hear what you guys think could possibly be contenders for Game of The Year Honors...
