Hey all
I just got a Wii recently, I'm LOVING it! But I just have a quick question or two about Progressive scan games and the cables on Wii.
1) Will the progressive scan mode for GameCube games work on the Wii? Like if I have component cables and enabled progressive scan, that's not just for Wii games only I hope?
2) Do Component cables make ANY kind of quality difference or even WORK with games that are 480i only?
It's unfortunate that not all GameCube games support progressive scan (I'm annoyed about this with Playstation 2 as well), but I'm wondering if Component cables are ONLY meant to be used with Progressive scan enabled, or if they work with Interlaced games too? I'm asking because, I wonder if I will need to buy an S-video Wii cable for the games that aren't progressive scan. Hopefully I can just use Component for everything, and the ones that support 480p will look better, right?
Actually a bonus question, if you don't mind.... :)
3) Will 480i/p games look like crap on an HDTV? I'm buying an HDTV soon, cause my TV is just old and doesn't even support stereo sound or Svideo (no really), but I'm worried that anything that's not ATLEAST 720p will look like crap on a HDTV. I guess it depends on the TV brand, or its features, and possibly the screen size? I'm looking for no bigger than 32 inch anyway.
Any advice would be really appreciated! I'm tired of limiting my game experiences, and I want to have the best picture possible for my Wii gaming (and possible HD gaming next year, but it seems so optional cause my PC is kickass as are the games), including the games that unfortuantely aren't even progressive scan....
