With all the recent posts, blogs and general rumblings this past week here at GameSpot, I thought this would be a good time to evaluate why I myself visit the site on almost a daily basis.

Throughout the years, GameSpot has been a staple for all of my videogame news, reviews and general information.I've always enjoyed visiting the site, the layout has always been great, game information was always easy to find, and it was always a overall pleasant experience. Once video content hit the site, GS became my top place to visit for all things games. It was great to see such a large amount of content all in one place for free.I needed a place for where I could get advice on how to spend my hard earned cash, and GS was it. Still is, actually.

So what's changed over the years? Well, editors have come and gone, the site's design has changed, the review scoring system has changed, and new shows have been added.Is the site still a great place to come for all things games? I think so.

Many of you are hurt by the departure of Jeff.I can completely understand and agree with all of you. He was an irreplaceable part of this site and he will be missed. Personally, I will miss him most for his cynicism and wit. He had a way of putting a humorous spin on everything, and his energy is what gave shows like the HotSpot it's greatness. Is his firing reason for all of us to leave the site? At first I thought so. I was angry, out for blood, and I felt betrayed. But after cooling down, listening to all the great staffers here at GS, I rethought things. The only reason I'm upset is because Jeff was fired. Thats it. I remember being upset when Greg left, and Bob, and hell even Rich. (Just kidding Rich, you're great) The main issue here is that things were handled poorly, and the internet added fuel to the fire.

So I asked myself, why do I come here? The answer? The game coverage. It's top notch. Some people may not agree with me, but that's my opinion. Will I miss Jeff? You bet I will. But Gamespot will go on, and as long as the same quality content keeps hitting the site, so will I.

So in conclusion, I think everyone here needs to ask themselves the same question, why do you come here? If you only came here to see Jeff, thats fine and you have every right to leave. (although that is slightly creepy) But personally I don't think we can punish GameSpot for the sins of it's father. The site has achieved so much over the years, and here is to many more!
