Nintendo at E3 was sort of decent and completely boring at the same time. Some things really didn't even deserve an introduction, others I'm glad were shown/shown again. Too bad I wasn't there.
OK, starts out with a video, I'm fine with that. Reggie's talking about sales, like we haven't heard that before... Oh look, another video! And another, and another... You see where I'm going with this. It's like they ran out of ideas to show because they're so secretive that they thought they could just throw in some movies and nobody would notice. The videos were well put together, some even led into interesting bits of the conference, like the editors from that one site that I forget the name of playing Corruption and Phantom Hourglass on stage. It's just the ones with clips from online videos and headers to news articles that were completely unnecessary.
Hooray for Mario Kart. It was fabulous to see the new game, but it was pretty much pushed aside. He sets a release date, then moves on. He tells us what we already know about Brawl, then puts a release date on that too. Finally, after this confusing jumble of release dates and videos, we move onto the main course - Wii fit.
Wii fit looks decent, I really like the concept of it. But it just seems like one of those games that doesn't need an announcement, sure, a commercial as its release is approaching is necessary, but going completely out of the way just to show us a simple presentation was going overboard. It was amusing and entertaining to see Reggie's expression when it said he was overweight, but it would have been more entertaining if we got some more coverage on video games. Most people watching are gamers, not a family sitting on a couch together just for the occasion of E3.
In all, it was alright. I liked the news of new games, and more details of the games already announced, it's just that quite a lot of the games and (especially) videos were completely unnecessary.
