2006 FIFA World Cup

As some of you know I bought 2006 FIFA World Cup for the PS2 last week and I thought I would tell you how I have been going.

I haven't played too much of it because I have been spending alot of time watching the World Cup (games are on late at night in Aus. so I only watch 1 game a night and then tape the other 2 and watch them in the day) so I have only played the World Cup finals 3 times. The first time I played with Australia on Semi-Pro so I could get used to the game and I ended up easily winning the final 5-0 against Spain.

I then played on Proffessional with lowly African team Mali and after making the World Cup I managed to make the Semi Finals before losing to Greece 1-0 in the final minute of Extra Time. I then won my third place match 2-0 against Portugal.

Next I was Mexico on World Class difficulty and after making the World Cup I was drawn in the Group of Death with Italy, Portugal and South Korea (i have a special way of picking the groups which makes it more exciting). I was 2-0 down to Italy at Half Time in my first group game but made a great comeback to draw 2-2. I then played South Korea which ended in a 0-0 draw. So I had to defeat Portugal in my last Group game or I wouldn't progress. They took the early lead but I managed to grab one back before half time to make it 1-1 at the break. Jared Borgetti was the man to finish it off and give Mexico qualification with a 2-1 victory over Portugal. I was then drawn with Croatia in the Round of 16 and defeated them 1-0. Then it was the Czech Republic and Borgetti struck early in the second half and when it seemed like I would progress that's when Czech scored and sent it into Extra Time. I ended up winning on Penalties 8-7 and it ended with my Keeper scoring the winning goal. I then played Argentina in the Semi Finals and scrapped through with a 1-0 win.

THE FINAL - BRAZIL VS MEXICO

So I ended up facing Brazil in the final and it started off very bad when Ronaldo scored in the opening 20 minutes of the first half. So Brazil led 1-0 at Half Time. The hero of so many games and the eventual Golden Boot and Golden Ball winner Borgetti netted an equalizer around the 70 minute mark. But then in the 87th minute I made an error which allowed Ronaldo to score and give Brazil a 2-1 victory. I was very peed off!!!!!

I will probably go into the European Zone with someone like Italy or Croatia or maybe even England.
