Dodgy Computer Shops

Sup G-Spot?

Don't you really enjoy purchasing something that needs to be ordered in from a local computer supplier?

Last thursday I decided to go buy a new graphics card, a GIGABYTE ATI Radeon 4850 HD 1GB to be exact, and the dude at the shop told me it was in stock at a local supplier. I was told to come back in a week to pick it up (I had to pay when I ordered the card, so I expected that my card would be waiting for me today). I went in today to get it, and was told that the supplier was out of stock and didn't know when they'd be getting more in.

Is this crap or is this crap? Shoulda just gone through Umart...

Xbox 360, I just got mine and think I found a fix for RROD!

Dear Gamespot/Gamers/Diary?

I recently recieved a 'broken' Xbox 360 off of a good mate of mine. He suggested I use the 'towel trick' to get rid of those satanistic Red Rings Of Death, so I used it.

It worked great, until I turned my console off. Obviously anyone who has had this happen will know, RRODcame back. So - soon enough - out came the towels, and I repeated the same process. It worked, as expected. I played for a few hours (Yeah, I have a pretty basic life (i.e. Girlfriend, Work, Graff, Gaming) ) and then proceeded to switch my console off - HERE'S THE IMPORTANT PART! - with my controller. Instead of switching my console back on to overheat it once more with towels when I was ready for some gaming again (Ok, so really I just switched out to my PS3 and played some KILLZONE 2 FTW!), I first ejected the disc drive to take my disc out so I didn't melt it when I re-re-fixed my Xbox.

To my amazement, the console simply started up, no RROD, just some green lights on my console and the Xbox Dashboard on my TV! This method has continued to work for a few days now, and I've bought and played four games with no glitching or anything that generally indicates that a 360 feels like /life'ing.

Ok, so basically I'm just too scared to touch the power button at all. I suggest that people try this before shipping their console off to microsoft, especially if your machine's out of warranty.

If anyone has a dodgy console, please tell me if this method works for you!

Cheers,

Eksale.

oh P.S. -

I was a hardout Sony Jockey up until last week, but since playing Mass Effect (Great game, by the way!) earlier tonight, I'm becoming a little more neutral in which console I prefer.

Dear Gamespot

Dear Gamespot (And/or anyone else who happens to read this),

I've just decided to start contributing to this wonderous cavity in the right side of the internet's brain that we call a website. I've been an avid visitor to Gamespot since I was about 10, when I was looking up cheats for PC RTS games (Age Of Empires, anyone?) and have always been meaning to sign up and drop some reviews on the unsuspecting populous here, but never managed to get around to it.

So here I stand (Sit, in my cheap-ass office chair) - a sixteen year old, baggy-pant wearing, rap listening writer from the grimey suburbs of inner-most Queensland, Australia - preparing to start writing my first video game review (On one of my many *cough* PS3 games) for the masses to read, share, print & treasure. So sit back, relax, bookmark this page and spam me with some Thumbs Up!

Lmao,

Eksale.
