I am slightly annoyed that developers are turning away from the traditional "Here's the patch on Gamershell.com (or even Gamespot.com, for example), download it if you want. You don't have to. But it's there and free. You don't have to sign up to anything, just download it." They all seem to be heading for the Steam way; "Here's the patch. You need to download a program that might/might not be a virus that destroys your computer. You need to sign up. Your computer will download the patch automatically. You have no choice in the matter."
Anyways, I have a question about Impulse, specifically Sins of a Solar Empire. I have just downloaded Impulse but have not signed up to it as I wish to know a few things first. I want to update my game to a more recent version. However, I heard that when you do that you can no longer install that copy of the game onto a different computer and update that as well.
Is this true? It's a shame if it is because my dad, my brother and I like to play games over a LAN network together. Anyone know?
