Note: We are starting from North Carolina, because of the long boring drive from Kansas was too much.
It was suppose to take us 8 hours to get from North Carolina to Orlando Florida, and we were suppose to leave early morning on Friday, June 1st. We ended up leaving at around 4:30 P.M. Eastern Time. This was only the first of the many problems that ensued on our travel to Orlando Florida. As we drove, the other relatives, specifically the one driving continued to speed along the road. Lets say the limit was 70 and we were doing about 75...they were going inbetween 80 or 90...
As she continued to speed along, we kept up as best as we could, zooming along in the story to Florida. (As driving through the other states was pretty much straight forward and boring.) So here we are in Florida, driving along the Interstate, thinking we are all good...we pull off the interstate, and summon the fury of I don't know someone. We went through town after town, stopping practically at 5 minute intervals...they were lost. As we followed our trusted AOL instructions, well not us the others, who were leading, we found ourselves driving for another 50 miles to get to someplace called Gainsville. Now what does Gainsville have to do with Orlando...I haven't the slightest idea...but it was there. After getting to Gainsville, we drove somewhere somehow and ended up in Brooksville. Heck I was asleep, so here we are in Brooksville looking for our Villa, yes they ordered a Villa for us. (Note that the Villa was in a place called Kissimme, or something like that and we were in Brooksville looking for it.)
So here they go driving down this old road, with some old houses, not Villas, but houses...small houses. By now, my aunt had already ditched the other vehicle and jumped in ours... Lets just say that a bit of a while back, our relatives, now that we had been driving for more that 10 hours, and the fact that we didn't really rest in the morning had started to drift.
Okay so we have drifters, because they were tired, but the still refused to take a break so we continued on. Now after we got out of that housing area we continued to follow the others, and they decided to drive 20 minutes in another direction, away from the Interstate. After we caught up to them, they were speeding again, we finally got them to go back to the Interstate. Of course on the trip back to the Interstate...we had a little bit of cop trouble. The limit said either 40 or 50, they were doing 70, and we were flashing. I was busy looking out the window. So the cop was going to pull them over, but instead the flashing car got pulled over. Sure enough they pretended that nothing was wrong with the lights, and the officer couldn't do a single thing with the registration being from St. Thomas. (Note it seems that State police officers rarely see a Virgin Islands tag and such.) Soon enough we were off. Of course the others were hiding in some little pull in spot, waiting until after both Police cars passed. Sure enough people were upset...as a mild term, but we continued on to a gas station to ask for directions.
At this gas station, the truth was finally came out. We had been driving in the wrong direction for the past 2 1/2 hours. The anger was high, but all they could do was laugh... Sure enough it was some time after 2 in the morning, and none of the adults had any real sleep from the beginning of that Friday, but we sure enough drove that 2 1/2 hours back up to Orlando. After reaching Orlando, we didn't let the others lead anymore. Considering they had gotten us lost about 5 times, we took the lead. After calling my aunt, we got straight directions from Orlando to the Villa area. It was actually a pretty smooth ride, with only a few turnarounds being needed. After crossing the toll road we landed in Kissimme. Sure enough it was daylight, everyone else was tired, but we continued on to the area, got in the villa, and started a problem with the alarm. It just wouldn't shut up.
After a little help from the Sheriff guy...that appeared, the alarm was finally off, we moved in our stuff and everyone pretty much went to sleep for the entire Saturday. Sunday would begin the first of the many Disney Parks.
