I have an iphone 4S.  Have had an iphone since the 3 days, but the other day I met a lady who showed me her HTC One and I have to admit it was pretty damn cool.  Much larger screen, good features, and I liked the interface.  I didn't get too much of a look into it but it came off as feeling less restrictive, and as there's been a few things going on with Apple that are making me humor jumping ship I figure it's time to change.  The phone I'm looking to get would be the Galaxy 4S.

But I have no idea how things function on Android devices.  I like to pay for my music.  Does Samsung offer something similar to itunes where I can find all music/movies/apps in one area?  Will the music now working on my iphone transfer over to my new 4S?  What about apps?  Do I have to rebuy entirely?  How does it all work?  I know these are probably really dumb questions but I'm clueless as I've only ever had an iphone up until now.

And what does buying an "unlocked" phone mean?  Why shouldn't I pay $250 with two year contract as opposed to $650 for unlocked?  I have no idea what this means.  Can anyone direct me to a good site that will explain what the main differences are between platforms, how they sell music and apps, how those are transfered, etc?  I've enjoyed Apple, but think it's about time to give another a shot for a while.

Alright. First off I would strongly advice considering the Nexus 4 or the HTC One, those are beautiful phones. I currently own a Samsung SIII and I...like it. Here's the main thing to think about. On the iPhone you are dealing with the same company for hardware and software (Apple). But with an Android phone you've got to deal with the hardware, the software and the service provider. Most hardware developers will "skin" the Android running on their devices. That's why the OS of HTC devices is slightly different from the OS on Samsung devices. They are both different "skins" of Android. In all cases, you will have access to the Google Play Store (which is basically the App Store). You will also have Google Music (which is analogous to iTunes). To make myself perfectly clear, you do NOT want the Samsung App/Music Store, you want the Google Play / Music Store. All Android phones will have the Google Play / Music Store. There's probably a way to get your music from your iPhone to your Android phone, but I'm not sure. If you can get the music out (in a decent format), there are apps that will be able to play it, guaranteed. You will probably have to rebuy apps entirely. You may have some luck e-mailing devs and asking them to give you the app for free, but don't count on it. An "unlocked" phone is a phone that is currently not part of a phone plan. When you get a $250 dollar phone on a 2 year plan, you're actually paying $650, it's just $400 of it is paid over 2 years. This happens with iPhones too. This is just how cell phones work now. A "rooted" Android phone is one where you've uninstalled the OS that it was shipped with and put in an OS where you (the user) has all but complete control over everything. This is an advanced Android user thing to do. Hopefully this made sense.

More of a problem with journalism in general, rather than a problem with game developers/publishers having power.

Definitely get rid of tutorials. Why restrict the gameplay for the first 10 minutes - hour? Just makes me frustrated.
