Hit up Best Buy's $9.99 sale today!

Found a lot of games I wanted and even a few I didn't. I really wanted Pure, but it seems like everyone else wanted it more. Apparently people were lined up at 7am, according to the clerk ringing me up. I guess I didn't want it that bad.

Anyways, here's the stuff I nabbed:

  • Alone in the Dark
  • Universe at War: Earth Assault
  • C&C Red Alert 3
  • NHL 2K9
  • Warhammer: Battle March
  • Operation Darkness
  • Too Human
  • Fracture
  • Turning Point: Fall of Liberty
  • Unreal Tournament III
  • Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars

Not bad. Some of the games I know aren't the highest scoring of all time, but I don't mind dropping $10 on a dud. Better that then $60! :D

Hopefully anyone reading this got to partake in the sale today and snagged some awesome deals. If not. . . . .better luck next time! :P

Red Dead Redemption

WOW! This is insane! An open world western themed game. This will be my dream game. It's also using the GTA IV engine, so you know it's going to have awesome physics, character animations/interactions, etc. Can't wait!

Afro!!!

Go buy this game! Afro Samurai is awesome. The music is amazing. The combat is slick and fun, but does get a little rough since you can get hit from the side or behind and it messes up your combo. Stay light and quick and keep moving and you'll be fine.

The graphics are also very, very well done! Lots of attention has been given to the game world. As stated in the reviews, the platforming sections are just terrible. Most due to the unresponsiveness of some of the contextual actions. Sometimes when I try to jump to a higher area, Afro doesn't always grab the ledge. This results in having to try several times. Same with wall running, you need to be in the right spot and the right time or you'll just fall.

The cool thing about how the deaths are handled in Afro Samurai is that the screen just fades to black and you start, about 2 seconds later, about 10 feet from where you made your mistake. Definitely cuts some of the tedium from miscalculated jumps and wall runs.

Back to the combat. The focus attacks are in a word, amazing. Being able to slow down the game world and pick where you want to slice on the enemies body is incredible fun! It shows you a white line on your foe when you hold either the light attack button (X) or the strong attack button (Y). You can also mix things up with kicks (B). The combo system is rather limited, but still incredible fun. It has a slight "button masher" feel to it at times, but then you'll get flashes of DMC/NG brilliance. Being able to slice or deflect incoming sniper bullets is also fun and frustrating, since it requires a lot practice and impecable timing.

All in all it's a great game! A welcome addition to any 360 owners library.

Newegg is pretty awesome!

I just picked up GTAIV for $29.99 with free shipping. Everywhere else I looked it was still selling for $59.99. I ordered it yesterday evening (1/25) and it should be arriving tomorrow (1/27) sometime. That's amazing, less then a 48 hr turn around! I'm hooked now. lol Lots of deals as well.

Now I'm ready for The Lost and Damned. :D

Time for another chronicle

Well, I'm starting to chronicle my repair process again, as I did last year. Last year it took 6 business days (8 days including the weekend) to get the return box when they said it would only be 2-3.

This year I was told 10/21, but for some reason UPS decided to delay it to 10/22. So not including Saturday and Sunday it only took 4 business days.

Begin:

10/16 -- RROD! Completed repair request on Xbox.com

10/17 -- Return box shipped to me

10/22 -- Return box arrives

10/23 -- Console shipped to repair center

10/29 -- Repair center received console

10/30 -- Console repaired/replaced

11/03 -- Console shipped

11/05 -- Console delivered

End

Took exactly 20 days to get my replacement.

Guess whos 360 RROD'd again!

Yep, that's right, just in time for the all the big releases. It RROD on me this same time last year (10/3/07). Seems like a conspiracy to keep me from playing Fallout 3.

I should be getting my coffin next week. :(

Heavy Rain!

This game looks amazing! Being a long time fan of Quantic Dreams, back to Omnikron on the Dreamcast and most recently Indigo Prophechy (Fahrenheit in EU), I've followed Heavy Rain for awhile, but it seemed to drop off the radar around the beginning of '07.

I'm glad to finally see some gameplay footage and not just the same still images rehased again. While watching the new Leipzig GC trailer, I'm very pleased to see that the gameplay falls into Indigo Prophecy style, at least from that I can gather from the trailer.

This will definitely be one of my most anticipated games for 2009! Well, this and Alan Wake, hopefully. :?
