e-three (rant-ish)

Okay so since I only saw Nintendo's conference, Nintendo's conference is all i'm going to talk about. Many people say it was the worse of the three. Here's my opinion (not that it means much) i feel like although Nintendo claimed they were releasing games for "dedicated" aka hardcore gamers they clearly didn't deliver. It's not a family was sitting around thier computer saying, "kids come quick your going to miss E3!!!" no, really the only people watching E3 were hardcore gamers. As I've said before the wii motion -plus- is only a way to take more money out of the hardcore gamer's pockets. I have a friend desmond. Desmond is not a hardcore gamer, all we play is house of the dead and super monkey ball and you know were happy with that, no need for room microphone.. another way they're taking your money is by releasing a "new" guitar hero on tour. Honestly you could just add fourty songs every 5 months and rake in the money. Wow sorry I just get upset when a company **** hardcore gamers over like this. God damn.

Really?

The only conference I watched was nintendo, needless to say that was enough. It was pretty bad. Another money making add-on for the wiimote? yay here's my wallet. Nothing really excited me except for the GTA Chinatown game which although interesting will probably be poorly made.

I missed E3 today

Anyone wanna just give me a quick recap of what happened? I heard there was some talk about Rock Band 2!

In other news I beat Half-Life 2 & Half-Life Episode 1. Pretty awesome. The G-Man is pretty freaky though. I'm just now starting Episode 2, that's probably why i missed E3

Rise and shine, Mr. Freeman. Rise and shine. Not that I wish to imply you have been sleeping on the job. No-one is more deserving of a rest. And all the effort in the world would have gone to waste until... well, let's just say your hour has come again. The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world. So, wake up, Mr. Freeman. Wake up and smell the ashes

Half-Life Stuff

scary (i think) g-man video

Fun Revolution

It seems as if we've reached the point where video games aren't going to look much better. Nintendo had enough balls to not include HD gaming. I think the most important thing now is to make more of a fun game. It's a shame that most fun games although do not reach mainstream sucess still have a cult following. Games like Portal or Psychonauts. You can see these fun games go wrong when they are milked dry. (example Katamari Damacy: We Love Katamari, Me & My Katamari, Beautiful Katamari) In my experience the most fun time had been made when one of my friends were playing with me. Otherwise games are usally played as an escape or as a stress reliever. Great storylines can either make or brake a game. Let's get honest though no one doesn't buy a game because the camera angle is bad, or the ai is bad. Now that games are priced at 60$ (in america) i want to make sure i'm getting my 60 dollars worth. Personally i think if most gamers gamers stopped to think about if they're having fun or not, i mean i've played games i didn't think were fun. But i think I did (and many other gamers do) played games with doubt of weither the game was as much of an "experience" as the wished it was. Or if they bought the right system for them. Any game that can make me laugh is that much of a better game in my book. Playing the same Mario or Sonic game has absolutely no appeal to me. Sure enough though they bring the same old tired plummer out and throw him in a tennis game, then a racing game, hell maybe even a boxing game, Not to say Sony and Microsoft don't do it, they just do it in more manageable bits.

Top Moments I had in Gaming 3

Game: Half Life 2

System: Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC

Moment: Saw Blades + Endless Zombies + Gravity Gun- After being separated from from your teammate Alyx you are forced to take the treacherous route of Ravenholm invested with moaning, trudging zombies. You first encounter the sawblades after being cornered by the seemingly endless waves of zombies. After already experimenting with the physics engine for a while it takes a gruesome twist in this section. Nothings feels better than lining 10 or 12 of em' and slicing them all in half like they were fruit. (did that sound sadist?) Personally I was terrified when i ran out of ammo and had to change to chucking whatever i could find, but it was satisfying. Eventually making a shotgun a second choice.

Game: Metal Gear Solid 3

System: Playstation 2

Moment: This Is The End (for you my friend)
Sniper moments are always the best in the MGS series. And maybe i've been gushing about MGS too much but there are so many great moments! The End is an old man asleep for several years ways for his last fight. Lucky for Snake. His body has camouflage, and he is photosynthetic he can stay in one spot for days. The battle is divided in three areas, and there are many ways to take him down.

  1. Take him down in a cutscene with a sniper rifle
  2. Save your game when the battle starts, wait ten days the End dies of old age
  3. Run up behind him shot gun to the back, follow his footsteps
  4. Endure yourself for the greatest sniper battle ever

First time through I shot him with rifles and shotguns and the second time through i savored it and waited and waited and waited. I think it took me about an hour.

Game: Metal Gear Solid

System: Playstation

Moment: Psycho. Mantis.- This fight doesn't just break the forth wall, it knocks the entire house down. I'm really starting to try to figure out how someone would figure this without extra help. Let's begin. The fight begins with Mantis reading your memory card and commenting on any saved files you have. following that he requests you to place your controller on the ground, and by using the rumble feature he moves your controller. He controls Meryl, (the girl your protecting) making her either attack your or try to shoot herself. Then he reads your mind again, anticipating your every move. This makes it impossible to shoot him or even damage him. How do you avoid this? Duh! just control Snake with controller 2. It's all so Obvious. Great Fight. After you beat him he talks in cyrptics forever and finally uses his power for good.
