The main thing I noticed with ports are they typicaly end up like this timeline
|--\RELEASED ON PC\Xbox 360\ PS3\ Wii--------------------\Port Announced--------------------\Port Cancled|
This is very true but for that small percentage that get through, it's a heart shattering defeat. As seen in my Unreal II review I pretty much stated why it was terrible....IT WAS D.O.A....not Dead Or Alive but Dead On Arrival as in the graphics could have passed as a launch title. Another main concern is that it was just a copy and paste thing. The whole Grand Theft Auto series is infamous for being terribly optimized when they are released on the PC due to Rockstar North being more knowledgeable of consoles than PCs. Valve is the very opposite. They are great with PC releases but when it comes to consoles they are terrible. It first started with Half Life 2. It had frame rate issues and no multiplayer. The same goes with the Orange Box. Of course there are still problems with the port but they have been very small compared to Half Life 2 (the ported Orange Box included a better Half Life 2 with the graphics up to the new updated engine) but Team Fortress 2 is the biggest complaint. You don't get half of the stuff for free (like maps or the new hat Cheater's Lament and the pot) due to the focus on the PC versions more than the consoles also free mods and free networks. I think the fate of the Arma II port will turn out the same, cancled. Mainly because fitting all the controls on a small controller will never work. What I'm trying to say is don't make ports, if you really want the game buy the console and get the true verison.
