Ported games usually scoop a lot more power than they usually require to run on their native platform's hardware, especially if the title is the first one being ported.I think this is the case with LP. The main difference btwn the DX10 and the DX9 is the geometry shaders which increase the geometry detail only. so the owners of the high performance DX9 cards dont need to worry for a good while. but if DX10 is givin the so bragged 600% more performance they they hav to start savin their pocket money. the special effects however,i think will b the same on both the rendering paths. I READ some where that rendering an object in DX10 requires less number of instructions than on DX9 n so is faster. I dunno if its true cuz i did not try the DX10 yet n ofcourse nor did the games come exclusively.

the thing is that i've read abt the new type of shader engine that's being used in DX 10 cards .the unified architecture.....yea the geometry shaders.....so may b i'll wait cuz once i buy a card i will not upgrade it for another couple of years
common i told u its single core n i don't think we hav a 2.8 Ghz processor in pentium 3.....n 1,2 do u think we can play games with those?....... dey can't even play todays movies, dude

@trazac but how long will i hav to wait for a DX 10 card within dat range? @steven does dat mean my single core processor will pull me back if i upgrade to vista? i mean im not plannin to upgrade my processor now .i now hav a 2.8GHz proc..but i think 2.8 with 2gig ram would be sufficient man
can the game designers not develop games such that the cards can maintain a consistent framerate....im sick of these frequent slowdowns.....game runs smooth here gets totally f**ked up at some other place.....i hope this wouldn't b the case with the DX 10 games.by the way can anyone recommend a good card which can play most of the games upto date at resolutions of upto 1024x768 at high settings n reasonable framerates like >30 at all times? within 200-250$
