To Crash a Castle: Castle Crashers Impressions

Hello again. It's been a while since I've posted here. The Main reason for my absence is because I just got settled into Destructoid.com. The Community there is certainly ..unique to say the least. If you get a chance to see it, make a profile. Anyhow, I got Castle Crashers the other night, and I just can't get enough of it. I don't know if its the gameplay or something, but It is really addictive. Dare I say It even beats out Horde mode (Gears 2) and Left 4 Dead as My new Gaming drug. I know I have'nt done much of the Impressions thing so here goes: The Gameplay is pure old school beat-em-up fun. It reminds me of Golden Axe in a wierd way. it has RPG elements thrown in for good measure, and saitsfying to use magic attacks. As I said in the last post, I'll have a review for it in the coming weeks. Peace out.

New Games!

Sup. Sorry for not postng for a while interwebs was down. A whole bunch of new shtick happened up here. For Starters, we here in the Capital of Canada are currently in the middle of a bus strike, and it has nearly crippled me. On a more gaming related tangent, I was feeling nostalgic and i downloaded a GBA Emulator and a whole fudgeton of games. I remembered playing a lot of good rpgs on it, surprisimgly JRPGS (the Japenese and I had a bit of a falling out after the Inciednt that was Final Fantasy X-2). These games include Fire emblem, a sublime turn-based rpg with an epic charater driven story, Both of the Golden Sun games which are a throw back to Final Fantasy in its prime (before #7)all of the sonic advance games , and the incredibly zany, self referential, fun to play and laugh out loud funny Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga, and to round out the strategy, I got some action games in the for of Metroid Fusion . Im not advocating piracy or anything, but emulation is a great way to play great games that are long out of print. On the PC front I got Unreal Tournament 3( which i bought at the Steam holiday sale, but was too lazy to play it), On the 360 I got a copy of Gears of War 2 ( The single Player Campaign thus far is to coin a phrase: Bigger Better and more Badass),On my PS3 I finally did the near impossible task of beating the Single Player Campaign of Resistance 2 ( and it was on Medium difficulty to boot ), the enemies brutal nature and the smartness of your allies proves that Insomniac has improved upon infinity Ward's Initial Cure of the Stupid Virus (whrer you have stupid allie ,enemies, or both), and i Picked up The near impossible to say Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix and my skills have improved vastly thanks to the online tournaments( Does anyone know where I Can pick up an Arcade stick uber cheap). Today it got even better when I finally got a Nintendo DS ( I know Im incredibly late to the party but shut up) I've been saving up for one and my mom being the nice lady she is, decided to surprise me with it . It was a Limited Edition Red DS with tthe Mario Symbol on it and New SuperMario Bros Bundled it. sorry for the case of blogial dieharrea, I just had to keep you all up to dateon my gaming habits. Igoing back into the habit of reviewing stuff when I have some more free time ( Like March Break). So Long Farewell, And Peace Easy My fellow gaming brothers and Siters from other mothers

Teammates Wanted! And Left 4 Dead First Impressions

Hello there everybody who's tracking me, an to everyone else hello. This has been a good past few days. For those of you who know about it, There's a huge sale on Steam. Everything is on sale ranging from 10-75% off. The reason why I bring this upis because I managed to snag Bioshock for 5 bucks and Left 4 Dead for the somewhat reasonable $37.49. keep in mind that this is Canadian money so it'll work the exchange rate thing out.

The ifrst game I played was Left 4 Dead, and now I know what everyone's been gushing over. I played through half of the first scenario, and my god is it fun! I personally believe that my playing of Call of Duty 4, Resistance 2, and Far Cry 2 ( or as I classify them as a breed called the Thinking Man's FPS), this is a refresher by making it a mindless zombie murder sim. I'm telling you this know playing alone is fun is great but it is even better with friends, is you have a steam account please add me. My name is Specter. And in closing, I call dibs on Bill!

Immersion, Thou art a cruel mistress

Hello, Fellow Surfers. This is Mojo, Better known as FalconReaper, and I have A Question. Have you ever been fully immersed in a game that you've played? Ever? I'm gonna get alot of varying answers from this, But in my opinion, No. not 'til recently that is. The reason why I' m bringing this up is beacause I was playing my way through Dead Space almost a month ago. I'd never played survival horror before, and I've never seen its kind of game before ( I'm only 17 and have been gaming since the end of the SNES era and the early days of 3D). From the Introduction to the part where you go onto the Valor (that's as far as I've played before the disc bugged out). I Honestly felt like was the one in Issac's RIG (that's what your armor is called for the uninitiated), trying to survive against the Necromorph Horde. I nearly soiled myself while playing to be honest and the atomsphere was second to none (in my opinion at least).

I was fully engrossed in the world that the designers created, which is an amazing feat onto itself in my opinion. Never before was I so scared of a game, and it was all the more unbelieveable when it was broken (the aforementioned bugging out of the disc). It got me thinking, why can't all story driven games be like this? Of course, as time went on, I learned that only a select few games can do it properly. An example of this is when I played Assassin's Creed on the PC way back in January. With the help of a plot device, I honestly felt like an assassin in the Third Crusade. What I'm getting at is that games that go the extra mile in making you feel apart of it is a great game, sure its got problems , but there easily forgiven. now, I'd like to end by saying what games have you been fully Immersed in?

Unleashing the Dark Side...from a gaming perspective

Hey, sorry I haven't posted in like two months, been busy with games and school just started last month. Pleasentries aside, I've been playing through Star Wars The Force Unleashed the last two weeks and its awesome. I know the game has been getting a lot of shtik for being a little on the buggy side, but to be honest ive experienced nothing but amusing gameplay from the start. The game lets you play as Darth Vader's Secert Apprentice, who is hunting the last remaning Jedi. The reason why I like it so much is that you have all these awesome force abilities that make you feel all powerful. You can grab TIE Fighters out of mid flight, pick up stromtroopers and throw them like ragdolls, and electrocute enemies with lightning. It shows that the force is not only a benevolent power for good, but also an evil energy that can cause vast destruction. if you got the scratch go pick it up.

Do not Underestimate the Power of The Dark Side...Or current generation consoles

I know you have been hearing alot about it, so I'll keep the details at a minimum, Star Wars The Force Unleashed is gonna rock! I myself am not a diehard Star Wars Fan, but I have interest in the series to know its gonna be good. You have all of these wicked Force Powers right from the get-go, and seeing it in action is amazing. While GTA IV introduced the world to the Euphoria Engine, it will be unleashed in this game. It will have the production values of a good hollywood movie, and an interseting story to match. In the first level you play Darth Vader and get to Force Choke Wookies finding the Apprentice. Sure, the Apprentice's Lack of a force choke is dissapointing, but to make up for it you get the coveted force Lighting power (and it makes sense that VAder doesn't have lighting because he's practically a cyborg).

What I'm getting at is that if you have a remote interest Star Wars, then get this game when it comes out on September 16th, you won't be disappointed.

So many Activities, So Little Time

Hello, world. In case you're wondering why I haven't posted these last few weeks, its because I've been busy with June exams, and my web connection has been down for the last week. Aside from all that, I'm just peachy keen. To keep myself from going utterly insane from boredom, I've done some major Gaming. Now that I'm holding on to a 360 from my brother's friend who's in Europe (France to be specific), I am currently playing through Halo 3(single and Multiplayer), Both versions of Mass Effect (for a comparative review), and the Ninja Gaiden 2 and Battlefield Bad Company Demos ( To get a feel for them). My PS3 is back from the shop (thank God!), but all my save files and PSN ID were erased and now must spend the next month or two playing through all of them (two weeks for Call of Duty 4, Uncharted, and Ratchet and Clank, another week for Devil May Cry 4, and the rest of it for Grand Theft Auto IV). What I'm getting at is that I'll have alot of gaming on my plate this summer and months to come ( as me and my brothers only let Blockbuster Games into our collection nowadays). Let's just say We'll be really busy for a while.
