The orange ports are extra SATA ports for a separateRAID-0 or 1 array when your RED SATA ports are full.

Check all the cable connectors on the hard drive and motherboard.

Make sure the HDD's SATA cable is plugged into the the top RIGHT RED SATA ANGLED port. NOT the orange ports or the ports nearest to the DIMM slots.

oh thanks i'll try that, i had it in the orange one. whats the orange one for?

i just installed a new network card in an oldish computer we have (old enough not to have pcie), and i followed the install guide which says: (not exact words) "run the setup on the cd, turn off, install the card, turn on and then install the drivers"

but now it wont display anything? it boots up (you can hear it all fans are running) but the display stays idle. but its all connected and everything

yeah i just have a problem which im pretty sure is hardware but might not be. i want to get cs:s, just for casual playing. I used my friends account to play it just to test.

and its being difficult, if im playing after 30 mins or so, it will do one of two things; freeze with the current frame on the screen, or screen will go blank and get "no signal" when the computer is still on. the last one seems just as if the gpu is shutting down?

but i dont know why. it shouldnt be getting that hot or anything, its just source? i think i remember running dust2 at min of 40fps. my computer is well above the min.

pentium D 3.4ghz 1gb ram 256mb radeon 9550. its not exactly a super computer (its really a family one and not mine), but it should be able to run it easy?

anyone had the same problem or know what's going on?

IT sounds like it could be a short. Not installing the stand-off first, as mentioned before, can cause this. This can also happen with the stand-offs installed. To rule out shorting out, set the motherboard up outside of the case, like on a phone book or box. Also, what power supply does he have?ch5richards

hmm, i know he has a 1000w SLi ready psu but i cant remember the brand

[QUOTE="irelevent"]hah! i bet he forgot the risers/spacers.irelevent

haha probably, care to elaborate?

Litte screw type things on the case that help the motherboard from touching the metal case and shorting out the board.

ah yeah i know them. I'll ask him tomorrow if he put them on ;) i always told him he was a noob ever since he wanted to build a pc:P (not because pc's are bad, just because he is a noob)
