I figured it was due time for me to post another blog. So here it is;
My maths grades are slipping, and I.T Systems grades are aswell (OMFG!!!!1!!one). D and B (*cry*). Respectively.
As a side note my Lit teacher wants my babies, my Physics teacher rapes the english language on a daily basis (as does my Maths teacher), my english teacher contributes occasionally, and my Vet Info teacher is in the same camp as my lit teacher.
Nothing new with the computer, it's REALLY taken back seat for the past month - girlfriend, schooling, financial instability and what not. :lol: i'm 16 and i literally have my own bills. And i work. Sad.
Anywho, about the only things to do with PCs here is my motherboard MUST be my problem. My RAM was crap, i knew that, but it's only the internet that *ucks up. So i've done my best to fix it, but it still craps out occasionally. So eh.
Also, i've tried using linux lately (any of those KC users will know my dramas). I wanted to install it on a blank unpartitioned part of the hard drive, but it won't boot onto it, it needs to install IDE/SATA/RAID drivers (why? i don't know). So no linux for Andy. :(
Relationship's going uhh, well? Had a bit of a go at the ex-misses, apparently she was saying sh*t about my girlfriend. Put the poor girl into tears, quite unintentionally, too.

I figured i'd blog ya's to keep ya'll up to date. It goes a little somethin' like this - kick it, dawg;
#1 Plans for a new rig are going smoothly - but it will be a second computer, because alas, i can't even throw out my current computer. E-bay here i come, i guess.
#2 The new computer, and yes i will build it before Core 2, will be *holds breathe* a Pentium based system. I've always wanted a reason to have watercooling. And no, it's not in preparation of core 2.
#3 We also have plans for a frag box. This is what i'm gunning for. I want a fragbox - not a full size - for my next computer.
Liquid cooling + mobility + overclocking = multiple orgasms as i stroke my box of steel to sleep each night. Although i can see a lot of problems with it...
#4 I've been considering making my own LCD screen. I was going to basically rip up the monitor i have now, get a second one, remove the casing from that too, build a wooden box (so it looks integrated with my desk) and sit two LCD screens side by side (no plastic barrier) next to each other for 2560x1024 goodness on my fragbox. It'll be quite the site. :P And quite the lag, alas. :?
#5 Life itself has picked up. I'm up to a C in my maths methods - which i think really annoyed my teacher. Stupid cow. The first time i go to a tutor, my mark jumps from a D- to a C - in a single hour session, where i was drunk. Yes boys and girls, i **** you not. He was a friend and it was free, but it tells you a lot about this dud of a teacher.
My grades are like this;
Methods - C
Physics - B+
Literature - A+
English - C (dont ask.)
IT Systems - B+ average (don't ask. again.)
VET I.T - A+++++++++
About the VET info. Finally a teacher recognises my capability and he's allowed me to build the computer we're using for the next chapter. We need windows 98, so he's got me building an old pentium 2 (and yes, i overclocked it - my luck it was a Celeron 333A) system out of spare parts. Troubles with windows 98, but other than that, it's working. I know he was impressed. ;)
#6 Love life is going swimmingly. Well, it's going atleast. Still happily with my multi-talented girlfriend. It's got great perks, like being able to say "i'm dating the only year 11 girl in the last 5 years to get a lead role" - and WOW can she sing. Gotta love it.
Makes me feel musically declined, because i suck at even whistling. Birds vomit with rage when the notes of my whistling dare cross their fragile ears.
#7 The biggest announcement of all...
I'M BAAAACKKK
Yes, it is the biggest purely because it's got 36pt font. :P
Everything has settled, so i'm coming back on GS more regularly.
SEE YOU IN THE CORE, MY FELLOW OC TROOPS!

Double Blog - an eventful day
by Fayt_Liengod on Comments
Thought i'd dedicate this to it's own blog.
Well, with the transition to "family computer-ness" of my ex-gaming rig, there'll be a few modifications done to it. One significant one, which will make quite a few of us cry - but that'll wait till the end. First of all - storage issue.
First of all - my 200GB hard drive is near full. Already. Family computer for 1 week and it's near full. Call me overkill-crazy, but i'm going out on the weekend to buy a second 200GB, and 36GB Raptor. One for the OS and BF2, and the other for storage - take a guess at which one i mean. :P
Windows takes a good 30 seconds to boot now. It's driving me crazy. All the registry/hard drive tweaks in the world ain't helping me out. My pagefile is a damn 4.1GB of space! Not to mention 128MB of Virtual RAM storage.
So new hardware it is. If i had the luxury - i'd sell it and start from scratch, considering i have $3k sitting there (WOO-HOO!) - but i need a car out of that money, too. And yes lads, it's all mine, all was mine, and all WILL be mine - MUAHAHAHAHAHAH.
That felt appropriate to add.
Expect to see more from me soon. ;)

7 very long days
by Fayt_Liengod on Comments
Well moving is done. Finally got all the stuff moved to mums - my computer is now a common piece of family-computing trash. To justify it, i'm doing a total revamp - i'd rather sell it and start fresh, but no one will buy it. I merely want my money back - not including the time and effort i've put into it, or the 3rd party stuff (fans etc) i've crammed into it.
Everything's settling, but there's been a massive side effect.
I've lost my lust for T.V. This happened many moons ago, but it is official.
Secondly; I've lost my lust for gaming. Just in general. I found i'd rather have a chat with anyone, or just read (preferably the latter now).
Finally - i've become an alchoholic. You know you are when you're dying for a drink each day - and that's me. Through and through.
I'm getting the internet (broadband - YES!) and a house phone in 3 days. I think i stunned the guy on the phone whilst ordering the broadband. He asked if i had a pentium 4. I told him no. He asked if i had a pentium 3. I said no. He asked if i had a Mac. I said no. He paused, then said "a laptop?"
I don't think he knew what an AMD was - but he said "mhm" to agree, anyways.
You'll still have your beloved Fayt. Just maybe twice a week - depending on how interesting the forums are. By the looks of things it's slow - that damn "i removed the IHS of my X2 3800+" is still there after 3 damn weeks. Proof of the rarity of activity in my absence.
Oh and @ MK - it won't happen. We seem to have lost our Digi-Camera.

Gah don't we love school

Well it's been a long time coming, but i've decided to resign my moderator position on the OCU for several reasons, some of which are rather offencive - so look upon this list as a third person, or not at all.
- School. Obviously this is more important easily.
- Relationships. Yes i have one - KS, MK, and DD99 should all remember that short saga. :P
- It's just plain depressing. We can't really help the education of the users - and i don't expect every last person tocome in brimming with knowledge. But it does get tiring answering "how far will my <insert part> OC? Will it be worth it?" or "AMD or Intel" or worse yet "which graphics cards". We can all tell they're looking for an answer they won't get.
I'm leaving in search of greener pastures, and leaving my... request, if you will.... of who shall fill my shoes. I've learnt all i can from this place, so there's no point to regularly post. I know you guys'll miss me. I'll make a note to duck in when i can :P

Finally moving on from my old Samus Aran Avatar - just wondering how many people have noticed..
Sorry Unholy_Raven
by Fayt_Liengod on Comments
Anyone who's been on the OCU recently has probably laughed with me at Unholy_Raven.
I've got the same Proc. as him - except he has a 9500LED, a very powerful cooler if i do say so myself.
Well. I've been pushing him to his CPU's limit - i'm still yet to find mine, if i weren't so motherboard limited. I've been able to run at 2.75Ghz on stock cooling - although Windows really doesn't like it. 'Course she runs a bit hot, but eh, i'm happy. Not a bad memory divider either - running 333 - so the RAM runs around DDR466. Albiet with very slack timings. My upgraded system to date (with all new 3rd party coolers) is;
Antec 550W TPII
Thermaltake SViking (god i hate it)
2x Pioneer DVD-RW's
AMD 3200+ @ 2.5 w/9500LED
Kingston Hyper X DDR500 @ 2.8v (3-4-4-8)
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
MSI 7800GT @ 510/1170 w/Zalman VF700Cu
Although i did botch my installation of the VF700Cu - so those temperatures aren't the greatest. I can, however, run 3Dmark05 with 'em. I think my best score is around 7400 - STILL CAN'T BREAK THE DAMN 7.5K MARK!!!! It's killing me!
I guess this means Unholy_Raven wins - he's got a far superior 3DMark score. :(

Computer Hassles
by Fayt_Liengod on Comments
After much much much hassling, and fixing, and tinkering - My graphics card finally runs correctly, and my system is a peach - suffice to say a few problems still exist. Let's see... we have (AUS prices);
AMD A'64 3200+ (venice) - $260
Asus A8N-SLI premium - $240
Seagate 200gig Sata - $145
Pioneer DVD-RW - $79
Kingston HyperX 1gig (2x512) - $310
MSI 7800GT - $565
Thermaltake SViking - $170
400W PSU (20-pin) - Free with tower
And that about raps it up.
Clocks are as follows;
AMD - 2.0Ghz (stock)
Ram - 2-3-2-6 (supposed timings of 2-2-2-5 accessible) 400Mhz (stock)
7800GT - 400/1000 (stock)
- 450/1200 (oced)
Yet i still get a crappy 3d mark score! WHY?!?! 6900 thereabouts. WITH A 7800GT! I should be getting 7500 MINIMUM! 'specially with clocks like those!
Bleh. See what a new PSU can do for my system - OC the ram (i want DDR466 with those timings) and the CPU (2.5Ghz) and try again. :P
