Hell I hadn't known too much difference with the MBP to be honest.. thus why I was asking for some opinions.. I have heard nothing but good things about the alienwares though.. the only reason I had considered them.. My friend swears by his.. and I like it.. but yeah.. It seems like a lot of the cash is the name.. and some light up keys and what not. My other friend has an ASUS which seems pretty cool.. but people have been having problems with them lately.. really rough roads.. I guess I'll figure it out sooner than later! haha. Any input is great guys! Thanks

Yeah.. They are overpriced just like a lot of things are now a days.. but I really like the look and feel of both laptops.. I have a DELL FX for a desktop.. and it suits me fine for home use with gaming and what not.. as far as a laptop goes.. I need something to pound out some good multimedia work and can handle programming games and working on high end graphics

To keep it quite simple.. I need to find a laptop that will be beneficial to all my needs (if possible) I need a computer that will be VERY solid in both fields of graphic design and programming.. If they can hold up with playing games really well also that would be GREAT. My two main choices obviously are Macbook Pro and Alienware M17X or M15X.. Now.. I've heard Macs hold their own in the graphics design field.. but I'll lose the ability to play my games.. which isn't too big of a deal.. and I'm not too familiar with the actual UI of Macs OS. The alienware would be beast for all my gaming needs.. and it's a PC that's great for programming as well. MY total interest is to be a video game designer/programmer... So I need one that will last for a while! Looking to drop around 2.3k.. Any words of advice would be great.. Thanks guys EDIT: ALSO, If I did choose the m15x for the best of both worlds would Ido a Nvidia Quadro FX 3600m for the designing aspect? or the solid 9800GT?

Hrm fair enough.. I just didn't know how to get my feet on the ground with the whole idea.. Haven't even thought about where to go.. I start my programming classes this semester.. and hoping to see how that goes.. Wanting to get a solid foundation with that first. I wouldn't enjoy the idea of a tech college based solely on those sort of majors.. because they seem sort of open ended.. and tunneled towards low end jobs.. but maybe I'm wrong! Hopefully I can figure some more info out

Very nice! That's awesome guys. For those of you who have thought about it or are pursuing it.. what colleges work best for ya? Standardized or tech or specialty? Also for those of you who are just being rude about it.. I just asked haha. I understand supporting your family is important.. but a decent programmer can start at 60K that's a good start! Thanks for the responses guys!

So recently I've decided I wanted to push towards the gaming industry as a career, and with that in mind, I changed my major over to Computer Sciene in the area of programming. Now, another thing I've noticed is that Google is littered with ads for Devry and ITT tech and all those other tech. colleges, and this seems like a marketing suck hole for people trying to get into it all. I've come to you guys to ask if you, or anyone else you may know, has experience in this industry? I want to take the idea seriously and want to pursue it, and I want to make sure that going to Computer Science is a good idea. I also made sure my minor was Graphic design for right now. So discuss with me if you guys will! I have never posted on this forum and I figured I'd give it a try! So keep the flamming to a minimum haha. Like I said, any tips or any other forum you know of that may help with my information or websites for a good start.. Just let me know!
