Yep..I opened up my PS2 to clean the lens. Let me explain how I came to do this.
I bought God of War this morning and well guess what? My PS2 straight wouldn't read the disc..so I thought it might of been a bad disc ya know like 1 happens in a million. So to check out the disc, I inserted it in my laptop, see if there actually was anything burned on the disc to find out the disc seemed in perfect condition..which led me to think my lens was ready for some cleaning..so looking through my disc tray, I realised there was no way I could reach the lens if I can't even see it, plus, not seeing it and going in there blindly with a cotton swab would be quite dangerous to either break some wires or force on the lens and break the lens itself. All this led me to open up my PS2 and have a quicky operation (which took me forever) and clean my lens. This also means putting my warranty to death (not like it wasn't already dead anyway), and anyway what did I risk? Yes, **** up the entire PS2 itself..specially knowing myself. Yet, I truely did want to play God of War so I went and did it anyway. The hardest part was to take the top cover off of the PS2 without breaking that silver wire that connects the eject and power buttons..without these, you're basicaly doomed. But I managed to do it right and now it does read my disc..woo! I shall check one day if it starts reading back DVD's as well. Anyway, what a mess this was..alot but ALOT of dust was inside..so all in all, this didn't hurt my PS2. Hurray!
By the way, that's stupid:
