THE LOVE LANGUAGE- LIBRARIES

I usually try to pick older albums, but I am so into this right now I had to post it. The Love Language started as a lo fi project by Stuart Mclamb. Their debut album was good, but it felt like the band had a lot more potential that they didn't use well enough yet. The first album relied so much on how lo fi it is that the songs tended to be a bit hit and miss. This album is the exact opposite. It has the lo fi charm of the original, but mixed with better sounding instrumentals, and better songs. Libraries uses the recording method originally developed by Phil Spector called Wall of sound. The instrumentals in Libraries a lot of the time merge into one dynamic and bombastic sound that makes it stand out from most albums this year. It is a very old fashion sounding album with songs that sound like they were recorded in the 60's. It is also one of the best albums of 2010. I look forward to whatever this group does in the future.
