Pineapple thief have been around for years, but so far they haven't had any mainstream success. Yes they sound a bit like Radiohead, which probably doesn't help. However I think they are a much better band. I like Radiohead, but their songs never go below surface level. They sound interesting and can be fantastic, but other than a few exceptions they don't feel like they have an emotional or lyrical center. This album is different. It has a very obvious, and very well done overall theme. It can be described as an album about love, but it is mostly about the negative aspects like betrayal, lust, and other delights.

It mixes electronic sounds, with visceral guitar in a way that few bands can do well. I don't like a lot of electronic music when it is the focus but here when it is a part of the rest of the instrumentals it adds an element of something that makes the songs stand out more. All of Pineapple Thief's albums are worth checking out, but this is easily their best. It shows that 2010 has been a great year so far for music. Bands like this are a great representation of how good modern music can be.
