As some of you may know, I love dark comedy. There are few films that can take a serious subject and make it funny. This is one of the best. Alan Arkin directed this in 1971, and he has a small role in it. Elliot Gould plays a man who is a total cynic. He thinks everything in life is terrible and doesn't seek happiness. Marica Rodd plays a girl who meets Gould's character when he is getting mugged. She helps him and he walks away as she gets beaten up and mugged by the same group of men. She is the exact opposite of him. She loves life and tries to find happiness in all situations.

She takes him home to meet her parents, and various crazy situations occur that I will not spoil. All this happens when there is a series of random shootings in New York city that are terrifying people. The only film that compares to this is After Hours in that both Little Murders, and After Hours depict NYC as being a dark, and surreal place. If you want to see one of the best dark comedies ever, I highly recommend this.
