My review of Extract.

I went into this film not expecting much, but it was much better than I expected. Jason Bateman is fantastic in his role as Joel and the story of him wanting to have an affair with someone but then he hires a male prostitute to have sex with his wife she can can have an affair guilt free is a good remedy to all the silly rom com films like Love Happens. This was a lot darker than I expected, most of the main characters are not the nicest people and they all do pretty silly things for the most part. The part that surprised me though was Ben Affleck's character, he was really funny. I know people hate him because of the bad films he has done in the past, but people should give him a break. He is a good actor, just watch Hollywoodland, and State of play to see that.

His role as the drug dealing bar tender is by far one of the best in the film. Dont go in this film expecting a hilarious romp because it is not. It may have some very funny parts, but like all Mike Judge films there is a darker element of satire there too. It is a bit predictable but overall i cant see much wrong with it. Jason bateman's character especially is a frustrated man who does desperate and stupid things, he is not really a hero at all. I'm sure this film may dissapoint some people, but I thought it was Mike Judge's best film since Office Space. Not that I didn't like Idiocracy, but this film felt more consistant with its overall theme and characters. I recommend it.

I give it an 7.5 out of 10
