Would a 550W PSU struggle with the 9800GT?

Yeah, I've been wondering how they actually shut down and not work anymore.
I've had 3 different graphics cards and all have ended the same.
1st was my Geforce 5200 - this was with my for like 2 years. I understand that this might have been a wear and tear issue.
2nd was my Geforce 7600 - this may have been because I replaced it for the 5200 which was using an old system... dunno.
3rd is my recent Geforce 9800 - I have had my new comp for 2 months and this is the thing that decides to die on me.
I was in the middle of reformatting my 1TB HDD because I had a virus I couldn't get rid of.
Do you guys know what things would make the graphics card shut down?
There's the issue of overusing the computer but there are people that go more hardcore than what I do on the comptuer and their comps seem to have longer lives.
My dog ran away a long time ago. :(
I'm in Australia, so there isn't any wal-marts here...
I'll find some tomorrow.
Last option is to get one from Nintendo. I don't like to wait for stuff.
I came home today and found that my ds charger doesn't work because the cord was under a chair leg. :(
Now, where will I be able to get one here in Melbourne?
I've read around and people have been saying to buy them at BestBuy, Wallmart and Gamestop.
We don't have the first two store and there's only one Gamestop store in Victoria which is a 2 hour drive from my place and I don't have a car.
I dunno if EB games has it in stores, they don't have it on their website.
I might be going for this "NINTENDO DS - POWERWAVE CAR CHARGER WITH USB."
Just google images that you'll see it. Most of the images are small though.
The only problem is that every single description about the product is the same.
"the Car Charger doubles up as a USB charger to connect to your PC at home simply by detaching the 12v AC plug."
The problem is that last bit simply by detaching the 12v AC plug.
What should I do?
Well, I have the motherboard box that I came with the whole computer.
Gigabyte Technology.
FSB800 Motherboard. (This might be it, I don't know)
AGP 8X DDR 400+
On the motherboard itself, all I can read is Gigabyte-8S648FX
