Skate Games

Being a fan of skateboarding i am always interested in how the activity translates across to games. I was a big fan of the early Tony Hawk games and as i mentioned in an earlier blog i did drift away from them as they became more and more fanciful and stagnant.

I'm a PC gamer at heart, i've owned a Wii for a cpl of years now and have found it to be a really fun console for social gaming.

Recently i'd had a bit of a problem. And that problem was the game Skate. Everything i had heard about it got me excited. I liked the sound of the controls, i liked the layout of the city and i loved the sound of the freedom. Problem was, i didnt have an Xbox360 and was it a good enough game to purchase the hardware.

These days games come out on just about every format and i would always play a game on my PC rather then a console as i find the precise mouse and keyboard controls to be better. But what of skate, even i admit that the control scheme would not translate well to a pc if it would be eventually be released for it.

So after much umming and ahhing i finally managed to justify laying out the cash for the 360 system (getting a 40" fully HD tv also helped) the 1st game i bought was of course Skate.

The bar has been set very very high for the produces of the Tony Hawk series. They may never get back on top, what with the sequel well on the way.

Now if only i could get manuals locked down.

Tony hawk games

With the newest version of the venerable tony hawk pro skater series i want to know which of them is your favourite and what platform it is on.
I personally came to the series a little later and started off playing tony hawk 2 on the PC. I have faithfully followed the series through on PC before moving to the xbox with Pro skater 4 and thug. I did not purchase thug 2 as i didn't like the way the series was going. Is Project 8 good enough to get me back? American wasteland was a biot of a dissapointment
What are your thoughts?
