Downloading Games

I guess this is a short rant, but I wish downloading games from legitimate services like Steam was a lot faster. I hear about people downloading around 1Mb/s, maybe faster, but I can barely pull 600kb/s on a 7mb/s internet connection (or close to that, depending what speed test server I use). I guess it could be slower, but it still sucks to wait five or more hours to play a game when my internet should be capable of downloading it faster lol. Even though it's probably just the server I'm downloading from that's slow, I still feel like I should be doing it faster.

With that being said...if anyone has any tips, let me know. I feel like I've tried everything though.

Done with Bad Company 2 Unlocks

I finally finished all of the weapon and upgrade unlocks for all of the classes this morning....now I get to start working on all of the pins and badges, which should be just as fun. Other than the fact I get to try to use sniper rifles some more, which is something I'm still terrible at. At least unlike with WoW I can work on all of this stuff on my own time and still have a chance to get it done, and still feel like I'm progressing with the ranks and everything too.

After Quitting World of Warcraft

It's amazing how much more productive I've been since quitting WoW (just a little over a week ago). I'm not sure why though, since I really didn't play WoW anymore than I play other games now. It must have something to do with how I no longer have to rely on 24 other people to play part of a game that's most fun for me, so I'm actually playing games more than just waiting. Which then makes me feel less burned out when I get back to my daily grind. Either way though it's pretty nice. Though in another way it's still tough, and I might even pick it back up when Cataclysm comes out, since it had given me almost five years of enjoyment. It was also still fun even when I quit, but the atmosphere I had to play it was degrading, so I decided to take a break at the very least. For now I'm going to enjoy saving a little money, and getting a little more done.

Bad Company 2 (PC) Initial Thoughts

This game blew my mind, and was a great choice for me to get back into FPS games. The last one I really played was Counter Strike: Source. As great as CS:S was, Bad Company 2 blows it out of the water in every aspect I can think of. Amazing graphics aside, the nearly 100% destructible worlds were a huge thing for me, and something I had wanted in a game like this for awhile (I didn't even know it was in the first Bad Company until I started reading previews for Bad Company 2). I'm not entirely sure what to say, since I'm still a little bit in awe, so I figured I'd make an incoherent blog post rather than try to write a review, at least for now. If anyone reads this that is on the edge about whether or not to buy this game....I highly recommend you buy it. Even with all the connectivity issues there are now, it's amazing once you get in to play. I also expect the issues to be temporary, so in the long run it will be nearly perfect. Even if you just run through the single player, it's an amazing game to look at, and there's never a dull moment.
