Hi

I'm a Madden newb and I was wondering how to stop Tight Ends, especially well rated ones.My friend plays the Cowboys, and it seems its impossible to Witten. When I blitz, the QB has time to pass the ball to him. When I use Cover 2 or 3, he typically catches the ball and then is tackled, resulting in 5-8 yards each time. I find my only chance is blitzing the QB when he isn't using something like a TE Stick, but even this doesnt even work. (I have a lot of 2 and 15s where he then abuses TE Stick and makes it on 4th down). I read online that Man DBL TE Bracket (or something similar to that) is the way to go. I've called that and even that doesnt work.

I'm sure there is a way to handle this, but I've only newly started Madden and dunno what to do.

FYI We're playing on the "Pro" dificulty. I've had this happen to me with various teams, Witten beats the Cardinals, the Giants, the Eagles and the Colts defense. I earlier played with an "upgraded" Giants team (95 average) and while it helped some, Witten still won the game.

Thanks!

PS: I'm playing Madden 09 now, but will probably buy Madden 11 soon.

Again, for clarification, I'm looking for a more broad strategy game, not tactical one. So games like Company of Heroes, Men at War or World in Conflict need not apply. I like them, but its not what I want now. I'm looking more for a game like this: http://www.critical-hits.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/01/Axis%20&%20Allies%2001.JPG

Currently, I've reduced my list to about 2-3 choices.

They are:

Gary Grigsby's World at War

Hearts of Iron II Arsenal of Democracy

Heart of Iron III

The 2 leaders are World at War and Arsenal of Democracy. I was asking some wargamers on another forum and they said that HoI III is rather complicated and buggy, and that the HoI II Arsenal of Democracy is better for multiplayer and simpler to learn.

My big question is on the HoI and WaW multiplayer systems. How do play-by-email and standard multiplayer work for these games? I assume in PBEM you do your turn, the game sends an email with a file showing the status, then your opponent plays etc. But how would standard multiplayer work? These games are too long to just play in 1 sitting!

I'm asking because my cousin and I live in 2 time zones with a 10 hour difference. Now, if we BOTH have to be on the PC at the same time, we could play, but we could only do so on weekends. A more ideal set-up would be something that could be played separately or appart. I.E I do my turn at 10PM, then it sends it to him and I go sleep. While I'm sleeping, he does his turn and sends it to me etc. Ideally, if we're both on at the same time (say my night and his morning on a weekend) we can play with a standard turn-by-turn basis. Is this possible? Do you need clarification? My guess is that this is PBEM, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, Company of Heroes is totally a differant ball game. Dont get me wrong, I love the game when you have the Blitzkrieg Mod installed, but its still commanding individual units and squads. I'm looking for a "big picture" game, a la Axis and Allies or Risk.

I took a look at battlefield academy and I found the scale too small for my liking (as well as the cartoony graphics). Company of Heroes is already perfect for my tactical needs. (I tried Men at War but found it was too much micromanagement, especially with infantry). I'm looking for something with a much larger scale.

I looked at the other 2 games, and to be honest, couldn't see the differance. I agree, War in the East is probably too complex for me at the moment. The thing is, Advanced Tactics, WW2 Time of Wrath, Commander-Europe and to a lesser degree Heart of Iron III all seem very similar. Even the reviews of the games are similar!

Currently I'm leaning towards Heart of Iron III because of the improved engine, recognition of HoI II and that its the most recent game, but I'm still not sure. Why do you suggest Advanted Tactics or WW2 Time of Wrath over the other games?

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a good WW2 "grand strategy" game to play on my PC. My one requirement is that it has online play of some sort -- I want to be able to play it with my cousin. I've never tried this stuff out, but I'm guessing Play-by-email is what we'd do, as we're in seperate time zones.

Now, I though it'd be easy to pick, but I've found a flood of choices. Gary Grigsby's War in the East, Commander - Europe at War Gold, and Hearts of Iron II & III all look good. I am slightly iffy on War in the East due to its scale, but if its highly suggested I'll go for it.

Since I'm unsure, I'm going to give you some background on what type of games I've played. Recently, I've played TONS of Axis and Allies with my cousin. We started with Axis and Allies Europe, then Anniversary Edition and now the 1940 Europe and Japan editions. With each step up, we'd always wished for a bigger, more detailed map with more complex rules. We thought it'd be cool to display German armor superiority or have uboats the enemy couldn't see. While we love playing Axis and Allies, the fact that its a board game ruins some of the fun. My cousin knows where all my uboats are, its hard to produce natural maps all the time (Kursk salient can be hard to make), and we know the exact compositions of enemy troops. Most of our issues would be solved if we jumped into a computer game version of this.

So, which games do you suggest? Gary Grigsby's game was the first to catch my interest, but I'm a bit worried about the learning curve. There is a huge jump from Axis and Allies (even 1940) to THAT complex of a game. In addition, not having the other fronts was disapointing. We dont care much about the Pacific War, but it'd be nice to have all of Europe...

I'm open to any and all questions and suggestions. Price is not a major issue, nor is PC performance. (we're both running modern, high-end PCs)

So if I buy it on direct2drive it will still connect to my steam account? Just so I am clear: there is no difference between buying black ops as disc or on direct2drive right?

Hi

After the direct2drive promotion I was thinking about using it when I heard some strange things about the ways they use patches. Just so I understand correctly, can I use standard patches? Which games need the direct2drive special patches? In particular, does Call of Duty Black Ops need the special patches?

Thanks

Does anyone know if jasper will be used in refurbishing?

Rumor has it jasper is done in august and shipping in new consoles in september.

If so, would an elite being refurbished in August be jasper or a falcon?

Uh Hi there I have a problem with my 360 too :( I recently ( Christmas 2007) got a 360 Elite to replace my Premium. However I recently got a 1 Ring with the E 74 error...

I've tried disconnecting the HDD and stuff, and I've tried some normal 360 HD cables (not HDMI) and nothing changed. Heres the thing, I live out side of the US and the 360 isnt sold where I'm at. (turkey) I dont think theres a way I can get support...(though I will be going to the US for 3 weeks around august)

One interesting thing I noted was how it crashed. The Elite had been taking a thrashing this summer, with me and my brother playing maybe 8 hours a day. Maybe a month ago my brother ran into the 3 Red Rings of Death but he simply turned the 360 on and off and continued playing. ( he's little and doesnt understand this stuff)

The day it crashed I noticed some visual bugs. At 1st there was nothing with Halo 3. Later in the day when I playd Guitar Hero 3 I noticed some faint vertical bars in the background made of little triangles. I thought this was a bug and turned it off. A little later when I tried to watch a movie I had the same problem except the bars were now red in colour and where much more apparent. Thinking it was overheating I turned it off. Maybe 3 hours later when i tried to turn it on I got the eror code.

So here are my questions:

A: Is there anything that can be done?

B: Am I still under warranty? I think the warranty was 3 months but the forum head says 1 year. I didnt buy any special plans.

C: If I have to go to MS tech support, will I be able to use my warranty (if its there). I dont have any receipts or stuff but I can supply my ID codes and serial numbers and what not. I MAY still have some of the papers and stuff from the box, but I'm not sure.

D: How long do you think it would take to be fixed? I'm only in the US for about 3 weeks and while most say its 2-3 weeks for fixing I dont know if it changes by eror code.

Thanks a lot for your time!

PS: Sorry if my english isnt too good. I'm American but I've lived in turkey for quite a long time now and my english isnt what it used to be...

You've kissed Enrica? Were you playing the 360 version? I've seen a youtube video of sam kissing her but I assumed it was the Xbox 1* or PS2 * version of the game since there is no side window in Emile's office...

And by the way dude,in the 360 version atleast you dont kill Enrica. If the bomb doesnt explode Emile shoots her in the head in a fit of rage. If you frame her he kills her and says something about not having to worry about you. If you dont frame her Emile still kills her and then comes up to you and threatens you.

Heres a question about DA's ending. Granted I've only played it once but I was a "model" agent. I killed Jamie and saved Lambert and then went off to stop the JBA. As I said earlier I was generally a good agent, my trust with the NSA was 100%( at worst 90%) and I had saved Hisham and Lambet. ( I had blown the ship up though).

Anyways when I disarm the bomb in the JBA headquarters SWAT teams come and I start to get confused. You hear a voice calling out to capture Sam and then BAM I'm on the bonus mission in a SWAT suit trying to disarm the last bomb. When I disarm it I remember somebody threatening to blow the ship up in 5 seconds.

Whats up here? Seems SWAT is after me (makes sense with the overal plot idea for Conviction) but I still have a feeling I'm missing something here.... Is there any info out that can clarify a bit or is it all underwraps?

Splinter Cell Essentials is a remake? I was under the impresion it was a semi-sequel to DA. Granted I havent played the game but I heard its' ending was with an escape from the NSA and that it lays the groundwork for Conviction...I also remember something about the murder of Lambert or something...
