I want it mostly for the backwards compatibility since my PS2 is with my friend right now and is irretrievable. I dont want to get a modern PS3 and then a PS2 also. Will all new software/firmware updates work with the first generation? Are there any hardware problems with the first generation? I heard they discontinued the Hardware emulation because it was too expensive. Not a problem with the hardware itself.
