As someone who's never played FF14 my gut reaction is that they're relying on nostalgia for sales rather than originality. It feels like something one of the mobile spin-offs (Brave Exvius / Record Keeper) would do rather than a numbered entry. But if I'm way off base please forgive me, just giving my honest reaction. The game looks really cool though.
