I bought the PSP for a few games. But lately, I've been using it as a portable entertainment system/wifi phone.

[QUOTE="skrat_01"]MS isnt exactly to blame. Yes they did have a massive marketing machine, but every single 360 fan took the bait, and prior to its released it did seem asthough it was going to be a gift from god. I'd point the finger at everyone taking the bait from the 'beleive' ad campaign and the media and gamers took the bait so willingly, to hype the 'godlo'. This forum was bedlam prior to release. Who remembers the massive amount of threads hyping each feature - some of which were never in the game (even though Bungie wrote about them in blogs). Though of course im talking about prior to relase, after release. Post release and after the hype died down the game did cop alot of flack.....[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"] Microsoft hyped it. But if anything it is the most hated game on this forum. COD 4 on the other hand is this gift from god. THIS GOTY. THIS GAME OF GAMES.
GOd i love both games, think both deserved a 9.5 each for there own reasons.
But for the love of god there are better games, and there are better First Person SHooters. Those 2 were just really well polished and had a great MP and in the case of Halo 3 alot of features to give it replay value.
Other than that niether game is a gift from god. aliblabla2007
COD4s praise was simply astounding. It was as if the game was a landmark achievement in gaming, however it was pretty much just a cod game, that was well crafted, well polished and sporting an interesting twist on standard multiplayer.
Both indeed are AAA games, no doubt though most overrated, honestly, last year wise i'd be lying if I didnt say I thought it was Halo 3, though Bioshock almost takes the cake - COD4 too. As good as Bioshock was, it wasent a game to recreate the genre as it seemed - however id say it was overrated across the broader gaming community, not gs.
I think the correct word to represent the current situation of those games, at least on GS SW, is overhated. Although I only played CoD4.
Bioshock is bashed by hermits because it's inferior to System Shock 2, and they think it's quite overrated, and was bashed by cows and sheep (I think so, anyway) because it's not on their systems.
CoD4 is bashed by hermits because it's far inferior to the original Call of Duty, and was bashed by sheep because it's not on their system, and by lemmings because this game fell far too short of it's hype and is also overrated in my opinion.
Halo 3 was bashed by cows because... well.... no need to say here. It was bashed by hermits, who hold the opinion that the Halo series is just a trilogy of overrated and average FPS games (I think Halo CE PC is quite good, though). It was also bashed by sheep because er... well... it's not on their platform. Just as with CoD4, lemmings thought it was "lame and overrated" for a period sometime after it came out - it fell far short of the hype.
Crysis can fall in there as well. It's bashed constantly by console fanboys because most of the hype was the techbase - the gameplay is quite decent, judging from opinions from several actual players - and they called it an "all flash no substance" game, despite the fact that it certainly is not.
Me? I don't bash games that are good. It's just pointless and a waste of time - whatever I don't like, I'll do my best to ignore and just enjoy what I like.
Well, although Bioshock was quite a good game, I'll take SHODAN over ATLAS any day if given the choice. Sorry, but even though Bioshock had next generation graphics, System Shock 2 felt more superior due to its' atmosphere and storytelling.
Instead of listening to Valve constantly remind us that PC Gaming is "not dead", why don't they actually get to work and crank out the games they promise to us on time?
I'm still ticked at them for promising "episodic gaming" as the wave of the future, when in reality we would of all been better off waiting for a full blown Half Life 3.

Dude, people form their own opinions. You really care that other people regard a game that you enjoy as a flop(assuming you enjoy said game)?
In "PlayStation 3"'s world, there's nothing called 'enjoy'.
That's not entirely true. While there are a few games on there that I would avoid, I've enjoyed several other exclusives like "F1 World Championship Racing" and "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune".
In regards to your Gears of War 2 comment, Gears of War 2 will probably do better than Killzone 2 due to how large the install base of the XBox 360 is, and the merits of the original game. However, I suspect that each game will have its faults (i.e. Killzone 2 not living up to the hype of the original E3 trailer; Gears of War 2 simply retreading what the last game gave us and not raising the graphical bar again). However, both will have their hardcore fans, will in the end find success in their respective fanbase.
If "Killzone 3" would be released in 2010 on "PlayStation 3", do you think that its graphics would have been top-quality? You're not ignorant - you're pretending to be.
All of that depends, really. Graphics don't fully make a game, the storyline is the other half that can either make it or break it. For Gears of War 2 to succeed, it not only do the graphics need to be top notch, but it needs to have something really epic in the story department. I think in order to really make it memorable, the designers need to throw in a huge cliffhanger or plot twist that will keep fans guessing until the inevietable sequel. Halo 2 did this, which caused a ruckus in the fan community, but worked in the end. I think Killzone 2's storyline will also have to be just as epic if a third game is to be released for the PS3. Bioshock has already reminded many that it is not just graphics, but storytelling that is key to the success of a video game. This is something that the developers of Gears of War 2 and Killzone 2 will have to keep in the back of their mind while developing the sequels.
Trust me - a story isn't a requirement in order to make "Gears of War 2" a magnificent game! Moreover, is "BioShock"'s story any good?
Sure it is. Not everyone out there buys games just for multiplayer alone. For me, if a game is going to get my $60, then it has to have some great gameplay in addition to graphics. Storylines fall in the gameplay department for me, and if the storyline sucks, then I'm going to save my money for a rainy day.
I'm a bit surprised that you, a raving XBox 360 fan, hasn't had the chance to play Bioshock yet. It's probably one of the best games for the XBox 360 out there, and in my opinion, offered a better gaming experience compared to what Gears of War tried to do.

*shrug*
Even after all the moaning and groaning, both Killzone 2 and MGS4 will probably do well considering the size of the PS3's install base. So I wouldn't be surprised if these suppossed "failures" get green-lit for sequels this year or next year. They are both franchise games that Sony and Konami can turn to in order to make the money. I suspect that both will sell well enough on the PS3 to be considered successes.
[QUOTE="Napster06"]There not even fully industrialized...Nah.. I don't think China will collapse.
Its a self-sustaining nation. It doesn't need to buy or sell anything to get something. They have plenty of labour as well as natural resources. The question shold be whether America can cope with China as the next industrial and possibly military giant.
darkfox101
China's economy is mostly export-driven. They may be able to make alot of cheap crap that we love to buy, but alot of the average Chinese either don't have enough money, or just don't want to buy their own indigenously produced stuff. They are trying to steer away from a fully export driven economy which has pitfalls (the recession hitting the USA is going to put a dent in their economy), so that they won't get screwed over if demand suddenly drops for some of their biggest exports.
As for industrialization, they still have a ways to go on that one. They are still trying to shut down the old factories that were built and maintained under the command-style economy. And to make matters even more fun, many of the industrialists are flouting the environmental rules in the name of chasing after the all mighty dollar. China might be able to put on a spectacular Olympics Pre-Game show, but it remains to be seen how un-restricted attempts at industrialization will affect the Games.
