Microsoft playing it cool......

Sony has defineitly been in the PR spot light and doing a good job at controlling the propaganda to sway people who are trying to educate themselves on which console to buy.  I'm not spec nut but when you size up MS's 1.3Tflops to Sony's 1.8Tflops does seem like a disadvantage for MS.

The digging I have done is the reason for this blog.  Note the date as the complete specs will be disclosed for the X1, on Sept. 29 or slightly afterwards.

 Lets start with the APU both use the AMD X86 that shares CPU and GPU capabilities.  These come in different flavors as Sony has a slightly better version, hence the 1.8Tflops.

Now this is where off the shelf parts come into play.  Sony will use this right out of the box into the PS4.  MS wanted to modify and produce these chips.  John Sell a chip architect at MS stated:

"The chip covers an area of 363 square millimeters and is built in a 28-nanometer state-of-the-art manufacturing process. It has 5 billion basic components, known as transistors, on a single chip that combines a microprocessor, graphics processor, and 47MB of memory." End quote.

 Sony's transistor count. 3 billion. Also the X1 has a 106 million polygons per second ADVANTAGE.  Now why all the power in one area and disadvantages in others.  This was the same with the current gen systems, flip flopping areas of advantages and disadvantages. But MS designed this console for the future.  They are letting Sony have their fun in the spotlight because they are playing cool right now to have the advantage and it will come soon after launch. Their ace in the hole?  They are not relying on the GPU contained in the X86.  They will have a seprate dGPU for graphics.  And even greater yet is this rumored dGPU (GTX 780 level) can combine processing power with the X86 GPU.   Here is some calculations or guesses if you will of fact with potentials

system core = 8 core custom amd jaguar based chip + 12 Shader Core (768sp) @ 853mhz instead of 2 arm/x86 cpu cores + 48 alu(768sp) @ 500mhz

flash cache = 8gb of flash storage

>32MB edram replaced with 32MB EsRam

4GB of DDR4 replaced with 8gb of DDR3 and move engines

Audio block added to take strain away from cpu

Kinect Accel moved to inside of kinect

Video and base IO stuff = same

So based on yukon design the dGPU will be 64 alu or 16 Shader Core which would equal 1024sp @ 853Mhz instead of 6-8 x86 cores + 64 ALU @ 1Ghz

from this I think there could be 2 possible outcomes, one using standard and one using method mrcteam found

standard method

Main soc = 768*2*853 = 1.31 tflops +
dGPU = 1024*2*853 = 1.74 tflops

total tflops for gfx = 3.05tflops

cteam method

Main soc = 768*2*853 = 1.31 tflops +
dGPU = 1024*2*853 = 5.24 tflops

total tflops for gfx = 6.55tflops

So now the question that is burning your mind.  How comes Dead Rising 3 looks like shit?  Ryse having issues?  Etc?  This is the playing it cool again.  MS could be pulling off the greatest PR move of all time.  I think they sent out dev kits spec'd out to everything they want us to believe. Right now these games are having trouble because the are running on the media released version of X1 hardware.  These games could very well release in thIs form.  By doing this, Sony will be committed to its now weaker console and stuck in race sing race for the next 10 years and all MS has to do is unleash full power on the next batch of releases.

Look at some of the other clues going on.

Wired magazine did a article on the X1 in tearing it down and listing the results.  The specs have already changed some since this was written and doesn't it seem funny to just have a tear down published unless it was to convince Sony of a official build?

Next clue?  Battlefield 4

The Ps4 version seen at Gamescon was nothing to brag about.  But this must be the best version if Sony got to show it right?  Wrong.  Not if your hiding something.  Remember the partnership that MS and EA announced at the X1 reveal?  Could this be that Dice has received the actual hot rod X1 dev kits with two GPU'S?  Also a Dice dev has been quoted as saying that one console version of BF4, stands out above the rest.  He was not at liberty to disclose which console.  Well if we have now seen the PS4 version, why doesn't he disclose which one is better?So MS can take a hit on the launch if not all games are up to snuff.  Either way all games will be new and exiting and if the real versions of the fully potential X1 are just around the 2014 corner then so be it.  If MS isn't blowing preorders away that's alright at this point too.  I think they are having trouble getting this hotrod screwed together.  if it was really a simple unit as we are led to believe then manufacturing should be simple.  Add in all these variables and changes and the pressure is on.  The whole marathon and race thing.

Last clue for misleading us?

Sony has had the opportunity to sit back and react to everything MS has done.  MS took the stage first at E3 and Slook takes that news and has the ability to adjust things before they take the stage.  DRM, price,  etc.  Gamescom, same thing.  Is MS letting them think they are winning?  You think MS would say hey, you go first this time.  Maybe MS will be dropping a bomb and want to take Sony completely off guard.

Thanks to all that read!  If you want to react negatively to this please to do not contact me.  I put this up for those interested in this making sense.  If you are mad about how stupid I may sound then please go enjoy game system of choice and live on.  I realize all of this is a stretch.  If nothing of this comes to be I will still enjoy Dead Rising 3 at 22 FPS And in sub 720p.  But what if?  Just what if?
