EDIT: in fact, the reason why they ditched the Sony CD in the last minute was because they wanted to guarantee smooth/buttery gameplay to their users. Precisely so. Cartridges were much faster than CDs in terms of memory loading. I look like a nerdy dickhead now i know -_- just wanted to pitch in haha :)
