I had my doubts but after playing the demo, the game is officially on my hype list.

The gameplay is incredibly smooth, feels like mk, very violent, and the move lists are great - they really allow you to develop your own combos, and find hidden combo.

It looks great, plays great, and man do I WANT!

Btw, here's a secret move for Mileena users:

[spoiler] Tap forward then back then triangle to jump in the air and place a dagger in your opponents back. Then tap back then forward then triangle to normally do her leaping neckbite. Instead she'll pull the dagger out of the opponents back and repeatably stab the opponent in the face. Neat little secret I found. [/spoiler]

Also, fatalities are amazing as ever!
