It came today! It came, it came, it came!
My Neo Geo Pocket Color Silver Platinum edition with Sonic The Hedgehog Pocket Adventure. It's complete and looks like it was opened once and that was it. Like someone reached back to 1999 and pulled it to 2008 :P Man, this is got to be one of my proudest moments in my video game playing/collecting life.
The pocket, which I've never played one before, is awesome. The thumb joystick controls like a dream. you gotta play it to see how darn good it's made. I gotta replace the button battery, but that's no prob. the AA batteries are the originals included in the package!
And Sonic the Pocket Adventure is AWESOME. It's Sonic 1 crossed with Sonic 2 crossed with Sonic advance It's like an betweener between the original Sonic series and Sonic Advance series.
Did You Know?
-The music in Sonic Pocket Adventure is largely taken from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, with one track from Sonic Jam.
-Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure has yet to be re-released as of May 2008. The Neo Geo Pocket is the only way you'll be able to play this game.
-It was also the last game for almost eight years to feature Sonic as the only playable character (apart from multiplayer elements) until Sonic and the Secret Rings was released in 2007.

For more Pre RRW action I dabbled back into Taito legends.
Rainbow Islands
This was the sequel to Bubble Bobble. It's different but very very deep. bub and Bob have returned to their human forms but are now caught on an island! out of the fire into the frying pan for these guys. I had fun, but it is harder then Bubble bobble. it'll take practice so I'm gonna go back to this from time to time.
Did you know?
- It is the second of four arcade games in the Bubble Bobble series (followed by Bubble Symphony and Bubble Memories, but itself has two direct sequels: Parasol Stars and Bubble Bobble Part 2).
-"One of the features which sets this game apart from many others (and has no doubt been responsible for the game's popularity) is its 'hidden depths'. While initially appearing to be quite a simple game, Rainbow Islands in fact has a vast number of secrets for the player to discover, including secret levels, secret power-ups and riddles. Because of these elements, completing the game properly requires a large amount of dedication from the player. The scoring system also has secrets, which allow vastly higher scores to be achieved than normal." -Wiki

Rastan
I've played the Sega master Version but never the Arcade Version. you play as a warrior hacking and slashing through all these Greek monsters. it featured daylight and nighttime effects that were never so clear in a game before. It's dated now, but it's still fun and I got further in this then the SMS version! xD
Did you Know?
-In the US, this was known as Rastan, but in everywhere else, it was called Rastan Saga
- It spawend two sequels.
-"In 2002, Saffire created a 3-D fighting game published by Titus for the Playstation 2, and Nintendo Gamecube in the U.S. entitled "Barbarian". In 2003 the game was licensed by Taito and was retitled "Warrior Blade: Rastan vs. Barbarian" for its Japanese release. The game was released in Europe later that year. Since this game was not originally created by Taito, and since it originally didn't have Rastan or any other related characters, it actually has no connection to the Rastan universe."- Wiki

Return of the Invaders
I really like this game it's an updated take on the original invaders games. it's faster the aliens attack in different formations, and it's loads of fun.

Tube It
you've prolly played games like this before, in some sense. Falling panels have to be arranged to connect from a point to a point to erase them. It's not bad, it's just very...uneventful.
----
I also played the Dreamcast today. It kinda gave em a fit today since it didn't want to play Shemue or Army Men Sarge's Heroes. I'll try to clean the disks later. Here's what I played:
Space Channel 5
it's been a while since I've beaten the game. it's still wacky as ever.
Did You Know?
The sequel was released on PS2.
----
NFL 2k1
I don't' care if this is old, ti's still one fun football game! I'm a bit rusty on it though...and football games in general xD
----
Rippin' Riders
It's a semi sequel to the Coll Boarders series on the PSone. It's challenging for me, or maybe I'm just bad. But it's not as intuitive as the SSX series.
----
PenPen Tricelon
this game is nuts. you playas these creatures...called penpens (don't ask me why, and you compete in these triathlons...racing, running swimming...it's actually pretty fun, though simple. Multiplayer is what makes this game better. Watch a vid of this if you can. you'll probably be thinking 'what the heck is this game?!"
I really need to invest some more into my Dreamcast collection though. One Day. This will probably be the last i played the Dreamcast this week unless I can get Shemue to work, I got three of my Dreamcast games still sealed..I'm tempted to open them. xD

Finally, I stopped by the Sega Genesis Collection to enjoy some great games.
Sonic the Hedgehog
I dabbled into this game and got a chaos emerald to unlock Zaxxon. STH is still one of my fav games of all time.
Did you know?
="There was also a version of Sonic the Hedgehog that was released for the Sega Master System and the Game Gear, which loosely followed the design of the 16-bit version, although with new stages, some different zones and a level map. Noticeable differences were that the Chaos Emeralds had to be found within certain stages, instead of in the Special Stages (these only allowed the player to get rings and therefore more lives). Bonuses are awarded from the end panel, given some conditions, and there are no rings or badniks to be found in any boss levels (with the exception of the last level, Scrap Brain Zone which actually has no boss). The Sega Master System version was the final title for the console released in the U.S." - Wiki
Zaxxon (arcade)
This is one of those games i always wanted to play, but couldn't. It's fun, but challenging, but also very rewarding. I kept getting further every time I played, Maybe one day I can play Super Zaxxon.
Well, tomorrow starts the real Retro revival week. I can't wait!
