E3 is, arguably, the most important (and exciting) event for both gamers and companies which are associated with gaming. In my opinion, I believe that this year's E3 was much better than what was shown at 2008.
This, is a short summary of my opinion for each of the 'major' gaming companies- Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft.
Microsoft:
Their presentation was done exceptionally well. About 5 new exclusives were shown. Most notably imo, Alan Wake- a game announced in 2006 and has had no new mentions until E3 09. Forza 3, leaked to death, was 'officially' announced for a holiday 09 release. Epic announced new XBLA game, it's a cool looking side-scrolling shooter (I thought they were gonna announce Gears Of war 3....lol).:)
Also, new info on Halo 3 ODST and Halo Reach- a prequel to the first Halo set for 2010. Not bad I must say.
Finally, Splinter Cell is back! Or, should I say Sam fisher, Conviction looked awesome imo and I'm a bit ticked that it'll be a 360 exclusive... At least, not for long
2 other new exclusives were mentioned as well. Crackdown 2 and Left For Dead 2, honestly though I'd rather see some announcement regarding HL 2 Episode 3 instead of L4D. Too bad for me that I won't get the chance to play Crackdwon 2- my 360 broke as I mentioned quite some time back :(
What really caught my eye, was project Natal. Yes, it's mainly for casual gamers I suppose but I don't see anything wrong in that . In a nutshell, it's full motion sensing without the use of any controller. If it works well, the Wii could be in trouble... Yet again, I don't think it will.
Another thing which caught my eye, and surprised me was 'Milo'. The Fable 2 creator, Peter *something* announced that their 'big' project was.... not a game (I think). Some virtual kid who can 'sense' your emotions and talk to you.... Ugh, wierd :?
To add to the list, the MGS series is now heading to Xbox 360, however MGS 4 still seems to be a PS3 exclusive as far as we know. Trust me, try any Metal Gear Solid title if you get the chance.
Some info and videos on some multiplats like Modern Warfare 2 (Looks like a....Generic shooter...Please dont kill me!), New Tony Hawks and a few others.
Overall, quite impressed by the MS conference. Still selling that 360 though :P
Nintendo:
Honestly, I sat there on my computer desk like this throughout most of it:

Eh.... Later on released that they were much better than last years. Their conference in terms of presentation and excitement was terrible. However, Nintendo announced some first party ownage; Sequel to Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Other M (Wow, never saw that coming...), Golden Sun DS (nothing special for me, but a lot of folks are happy) and some others like Mario and RPG 3. IMO, the Wii is no pathetic console like a lot of indivituals here think in GS. Hell, I might consider getting a Nintendo Wii in the future. A few things missing from this E3 though; No info on the New Wii Zelda, not only that but they did not mention much about Zelda Spirit Tracks which is coming out for the DS this fall. Oh, and they had enough time to do so as well.... What, 70 minutes? The other 2 conferences lasted about 2 hours... :|
Sony:
To be honest; their's was nothing special.... The PSP Go! Looks like some ripoff to me... The price is extremely high (ESPECIALLY here in the UK) and UMD-less drive? What kind of idea is/was that? Was noise of that thing even an issue... Well, it was, but not such an issue in which it needed to be put out imo.
The new PSP announcements were shattering though, A new Metal Gear, 'Peace Walker' and the Gran turismo PSP finally set for release. Both are coming out in this fall as well. Few more others are coming, like Assasin's Creed Bloodlines and Little Big Planet, exclusive software for the PSP- Sony just gave the system life again!:)
As for PS3, nothing big. AGENT- A new exclusive by Rockstar rather surprised me because it was exclusive... It should be going to the 360 as well, shouldnt it? :? The Last Gurdian was another exclusive announced, but it doesnt appeal to me- at all.
However... Uncharted 2 looks like a game which I will most definitely enjoy. The new trailer for GT 5 was cool but... Release date please? God of War 3 seems to be another game which I'd be interested in for sure.
So obvious and easy to predict; a motion sensing counterpart for the PS3 was shown as well.... Just a copy of Wii's Motion Plus I say. Good luck to developers to make games with it... I suppose.
So, I'd say that MS, yet again, won this year's E3, with Project Natal being the highlight. However, in terms of exclusive games, Nintendo delievered for sure, however had such a boring conference. As for Sony... at least their conference was entertaining I suppose.
Few other things I liked:
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2.
- New Final Fantasy XIII trailer
- Ratchet and Clank future footage
- Red Steel 2- SWEET looking game
- Assassin's Creed 2 trailer and gameplay.
Some things I didn't like:
- No Half-Life 2 Episode 3 info
- No GT5 Relase date
- No Zelda News
- Boring Nintendo Conference
- Expected a bit more from Sony
Wow, that was probably the biggest blog I've ever wrote... Probably missed a few things that I should've mentioned but, yeah... hope you enjoyed?
