damn! ripped it out of the wall, eh? that's impressive.

my first impulse would be to criticize your temper, but i suspect you've heard enough that already today. so what's the game plan now? saving up for a new ps3?

get 1080p and you're futureproof (for now anyways)

don't give in to the evil temptation of 720p!

it may be cheaper, but the next home-movie standard, television standard (at least for hi-def programming), gaming standard, etc.. will all be 1080p within the next 2-3 years. so with 720p you're only going half-way. so to speak

[QUOTE="bdhoff"][QUOTE="2beers_in_hand"]Wow you got to be joking or are you really thet clueless. Resistance and Motorstorm are must have game's so keep your biased opinions to yourself. And your line about beinga informed consumer, well lets see all of us early adopters were right. We chose the right format for movies so don't feel to bad you will get a great add on in about a year and a half. So please take you opinions some where else.2beers_in_hand
So just because I don't agree with you I have to take my opinions somewhere else? If you think about it, what did you early adopters get that someone that buys one for $100 less this week won't get? I mean, other than a copy of Talladega Nights and shafted?

Well it's simple us early adopters bought what we knew was a fantastic system. So I have now regrets on purchasing one early. And good for anybody who was waiting for a price drop before buying one you won't be disapointed in you desisision. Nowe let me ask you a question do you own a PS3. I don't believe you do for the simple fact that Resistance and Motorstorm are great games, while you say what their not worth it what because they didn't get AAA here give me a break. Oh and last time I checked that cheaper system can't even give their cunsomers a machine that works correctly. So here's a tissue dry your eye's its okay if it still to expensive you can always wait for the next price drop.

dude, you're such a dick. first off, this is a forum, where gamers (i assume) come to congregate and discuss and rationalize the article. congratulations on being an early adopter.  congratulations on blu-ray becoming the HD standard (most likely.)  that's no reason to get pompous or overtly self-important, or to try to shove this guy off the message board because you THINK that he's an xbox fanboy.  i havent seen anything that indicates he's an xbox fanboy.  so how about you "keep your biased opinions to yourself."

[QUOTE="hailltoyou"][QUOTE="Ultra-Alue"][QUOTE="NeoZurg"]Sony doesn't care about old 3rd party games. 1st party is where its at. You got awesome mega games like Resistance and Killzone! You can't forget Killzone! and sure fire AAA games like Warhawk and that Dude Raider game and Lil Big Planet.

PS3 will conquer once again!

Ultra-Alue

You don't know absolutely anything about Sony do you? Seriously.

Sony's greatest strength was it's 3rd party support. That's what made the PsOne and the PS2 the best on the market because they had the biggest and widest selection of games to choose from.

Can you name me at least 20 great first party titles from the ps2?

Well not on PS2 but PS3 is totally different thing. Just look how many small game companies have SONY found and supported them , by making them 2nd party developers. Like does dude's that are making Little big planet , or even Guerrilla ( you think if Guerrilla was no good the would have entrusted them with they're biggest game ever made ? )

Single first party developed games never ensure a consoles victory on the market. Never.

Guerrilla isn't making Killzone 2. Someone else is. 120 new employees, it's not Guerrila doing the work, it's Sony using a popular brand to help sell consoles. If anything Sony should have bought all the rights to Killzone, fired everyone from Guerilla and made the game themselves (which is what they are most likely doing). That would be the smart thing to do.

Ps3 is not totally different then the consoles before it. It's the exact same scenario. If you think Sony is actually stupid enough to rely on first party games to win them this race, then they are guarnteed a place in last. People want abundance. Not four or five great games.

what about halo? sure, bungie made it, but microsoft published it and kept it exclusive.  that's about as "first party" as you're gonna get on the xbox. and you'd be hard pressed to explain how the xbox even could have survived without halo. maybe killzone 2 is the playstation 3's halo (in a matter of speaking.... dont flame me!)

I am posting here becuase this is something I have strong feelings for. You're informed? Fine. That wasn't what I was talking about.phoenixfirejb11

right, i forgot, the "visions of parks being bulldozed and developed into more subdivisions for our children to decompose in."

well, not as long as obesity is epidemic, diet craze is rampant, and interest groups run about congress screaming "think of children." besides, there's lotsa space in the countryside.

are you catching my drift, and the sarcasm? i dont want to post again after this, so i'll just clarify.  your very suggestion is extreme overreaction to a very minor problem.  i'd start getting worried when we have 'video game time' followed by 'nap time' in elementary school.
oh, and i hope i didnt anger the artist? (god-forbid)   i was hoping for replies to my first post in this forum.  unfortunately, most of my posts have been about your one stupid comment.  what a waste of an hour.

What does that have to do with anything anyways? You're running around asking what people are contributing to this forum, all the while heralding yourself because you're an artist, and that somehow makes you more intelligent than us.  I'm pretty [sure] most of the people who have been posting here have just been upset at the manner in which Kyle posts his messages.  It's like talking to a child, honestly, and i'm not totally sure why you're defending him.

but all i'm getting at right now is that we've drifted so far from that and the original forum topic... and then out of nowhere you're talking about artists having more depth in their views of society? lol
you have to admit it sounds ridiculous. and a little arrogant.  and i'm still not totally clear on why you posted it in the first place, but regardless.

for the record, i'm not not in any way artistic, but i still consider myself to be to some degree informed on the workings and backdealings of our society.    so kiss my ass.   (:P )

Wow. I am so sorry that I took that masterful piece of social commentary as simply a stupid and mindless post. I can see by the language you like to employ in your posts that you are most likely an undergraduate arts student, possibly studying philosophy, and as such you have a far superior view of society's flaws and pitfalls. Congratulations! You are now a Level 44 Complete Tool.

phoenixfirejb11

You should be sorry, what have you contributed? I atleast gave an opinion. I am an artist and do have a far superior view of society.

dude, that is actually such an arrogant, pompous thing to say.  you have a superior view of society? i'm not even sure you could justify that.  just because you're giving more thoughts to your posts doesnt mean you're better than anybody here (except maybe kyle)
so get your head out of your ass.

Congratulations! You're officially a Tool.

phoenixfirejb11

Congratulations! You're officially a Troll.

a troll? you mean like fanboys who browse in console specific forums looking to ignite tensions? clearly, that doesnt apply, but if you're saying that he's just "trolling" in a forum, posting into a conversation that he has no place to be in, well i think that that would make you a troll as well, considering you too have also recently jumped into this epic debate,
but frankly, i'm gonna have to side with the "troll" on this one.  for me that 'politically driven art' was just lost in translation.

and for the record, i dont think its untrue to say that a large majority of people follow 'structured lives', where they have tasks to do during the day, be it school, work, maybe just running errands? and you're right, it doesnt need to be during daylight hours for one to use an outdoor playground, but likewise, it's the norm.  ever wondered why playground zones are only in effect for drivers during daylight hours? if we start exploring all the avenueus of possibility then we cant really have an intelligent conversation.  we HAVE to make several assumptions.

oh by the way, very clever comeback.  *poite applause*  you're really going places.

I've seen many people complaining about the lack of games on the PS3 and are going to wait for some bigger titles to come out. I'm going to try and make this short. If you have the money, just go buy a PS3. It will probably be the same price in a few months when you go to pick it up.

The main reason I am stating this is because of some developers excuses. They are waiting for more people to purchase the PS3 before they will release their games. Now if there are people waiting for these games before getting a PS3, and the developers are waiting for people to buy ps3's before releasing the games, that means we're going NOWHERE fast.

And besides, you can play the "mediocre games" on your shiny new PS3, as well as almost every other PlayStation or PlayStation 2 game that you own.

walton13

While i agree with this, to an extent, i'd also point out that you're using theoretical market concepts as your basis of argument... theoretical because its not really this simple in the real world. its not like every "n" number of people buying PS3's will result in a developer deciding to publish a game on the PS3.  there are more factors to consider.

regardless, i would agree that its not the best idea to wait to buy a PS3, if you're definitely going to buy one, for two reasons:

1) the price of PS3 will not drop significantly probably for at least 2 years.  Sony can only afford to lose so much money on each console, and if blu-ray becomes the dominant HD movie format, all the more reason for Sony to sell a PS3 at that price.
2) if you wait too long in North America, (and Japan too, i suppose), then soon you'll be getting the European model PS3 - you know, the one without the PS2 Emotion Engine chip.  i'm not sure how disadvantaged the europeans are when it comes to backwards compatibility, but i cant see any reason why their model would be superior to the American launch model, and you can bet Sony will only produce this new model in the future, because its cheaper to produce.

but its not like the price tag will be cheaper.

so basically, unless you're willing to wait 2-3 years, or longer for a significant price drop, as opposed to months, it might be smarter to pick one up sooner than later, for my reasons, and in the grand scheme of things, for walton13's reasons as well.
