Lost RPG's in Translation

I feel that certain games I have played and beaten throughout my life as a gamer can never be outmatched.  Games such as Xenogears, Vagrant Story, Chrono Cross, and Secret of Mana are timeless classics.  Where did the designers for these games go!?

Each of these games had a combination of story, gameplay, and style that broke their genre.  As the next generation approaches is there a possibility that the RPG genre dictated by squareenix?  Don't get me wrong, I worship squareenix, I've enjoyable beaten every Final Fantasy from one to twelve.  But they take a long time to release their RPG's.

I've waited years for the release of FF3 on the DS and FFXII on the PS2 to come out.  How much longer after I've exhausted FFXII will I have to wait till the TBA signs dissapear from FF7:Crisis Core or FF13?  Are the failed attempts to bring the games that I've mentioned back to life indicative of their demise? I fear that if games such as Blue Dragon don't do well, the RPG genre as I've come to know it, will simply exist as Final Fantasy remakes.
